Hotel Elysee is a (not so hidden) gem in NYC. The location is perfect between Park and Madison. The staff is warm, friendly and helpful. The second floor lounge is open to all guests with coffee/tea and snacks all day, as well as for breakfast and wine and cheese. Late checkout is standard too (1pm). The rooms are spacious by NYC standards as well as elegantly decorated. The beds and linens are very comfortable. The only thing to be aware of is that there is only one small elevator, so waits can get long at certain times of day. Hotel Elysee makes guests feel special, and that is quite an accomplishment in such a large city. I also recommend Cellini across the street for good Italian (and it has air conditioning).

Room Tip: A few have balconies, so definitely can't hurt to ask for one!

My husband's cousin and wife suggested we come stay at their hotel while they were there for a month. A friend had told them of this hotel, which was one they'd not heard of in their many travels to NYC. Nor had we. So we booked 4 mights; by paying in advance directly with the hotel, we got a 20% discount off an already decent price for a boutique NYC hotel. Full continental breakfast included all the blueberries and strawberried I desired. The lovely lounge where it was served had coffee, tea, fruit, and cookies available until Midnight. Situated on the 2nd floor, street traffic and noise didn't intrude. Newspapers and free wifi of course. Our room had a sitting room attached, with windows on 3 sides and a skylight, for no extra fee. This area also contained a small dining table. The bathroom was spacious, as was the bedroom itself (for NYC). It's an older hotel, quiet and comfy, with attentive but not intrusive staff. We will return. We encountered several guests who are regulars, and I can understand why. The ONLY negative is that there is just one elevator, causing some waits as it goes up and down as quickly as it can to serve everyone who calls it. We were on the 7th floor, so sometimes it was easier to take the stairs, as we saw others do. I would always request no higher floor (it goes to 12), for that reason. Our room ws next to the elevator, and we were never aware of its movement nor any sound from it.

We stayed here with my wife two times during our two week trip in USA(2nd half of Sept. 2017). The first one in the begining of the trip for 3 nights and one night on our way back. We did not know what to expect apart from the comments we read in Tripadvisor. However this hotel was a very nice surprise for us. First of all during our reservation Ms. Cheryl Golde whom I communicated with was very helpful. When we arrived we found the staff also very polite and kind.
The location of this hotel is also very good.
Breakfast is also very satisfactory but one of the best things about this hotel is the complimentary cheese and wine during 5 - 8 pm. This is something we really liked very much.
We were expecting a parcel during our absence and they received and kept it for us for our return without charging anything.
We will definitly stay here if we ever come to NYC.

Staying at Hotel Elysee is always a wonderful experience - our favorite room, good buffet breakfast, happy hour, pleasant and helpful staff! Close to MOMA, a short taxi ride to the MET, and many good restaurants in the neighborhood, All our needs were met.

I hesitate to let people know what a wonderful hotel this is as it will be booked solid when I want to return. The staff are wonderful caring people who made every bit of our trip easier. The 2nd floor lounge is a relaxing place where you can always get coffee and a sweet. The food for both the happy hour and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. We found this to be a place where we could meet others in the hotel and exchange ideas about where to go and what to see. The staff were lovely and made our trip so delightful. Our room was quiet (on the inside of the hotel) and we slept peacefully. We will definitely go here again and have already recommended it to several people.
