Hilton New York Grand Central
Ranked #335 of 469 Hotels in New York City
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Myself and my partner go away quite a bit and had high hopes for this hotel as it's a well known hilton. When we arrived at the hotel one of the staff were rude to us and acted as if she didn't want to be there at all, Which is not what you want when your on your holiday. We expected a small room and this was not an issue however when in the bathroom a massive crack in the floor tile under the sink which we couldn't avoid to the size of the room and also right where you would stand when using the sink this was unacceptable. There was also scaffolding blocking our window so there was no view, and we were not informed of this during check in.
They then also when we checked in held too much money on my visa which meant the money I had saved to spend in NY I couldn't because they had made a mistake. This did unnerve me a bit as for a hilton I did not expect this and this should not happen. I think just have a think about your hotel when your staying in New York and maybe choose a boutique hotel with better reviews. And I'm not normally one to complain and am normally open minded when it comes to hotels but I won't be going back here again.

There is no excuse for rude treatment of guests or errors of the kind you described. I am very sorry that we did not deliver the level of service that you rightfully expected. Please consider giving us another opportunity to be of greater service.

Close to a lot of stuff, some decent restaurants in the area. Rooms small by American standards but about what I am used to in Europe & clean, well furnished and staff pleasant. Only downside is even with air con off there was still a vent near the bed which continued to make noise & blow air.. if I hadn't bought my earplugs I may not have slept so well!

The Hilton Manhattan East is conveniently located if you have business with the UN. Only 5 minutes walk from the Grand Central Station. The rooms are on the smaller side, but clean and well equipped. And best of all they are reasonable priced! WIFI is free in the reception area, but comes at an extra price if you want wireless Internet in your room. This ought to be included in the standard room rate. The staff is helpful. And the breakfast is overpriced.

We enjoyed the hotel very much - The United Nations was in session, so there was a lot of activity around the entrance - with many police and escorted convoys from the hotel to the UN. The only negative was that we had to leave the cab at the corner of 2d Avenue and 42d street - The gal at the desk (Tess) was most accommodating - and she knew our name each time we passed by, which was very impressive. The waitstaff in the dining room were most accommodating - All in all, a very nice visit to NYC.

At a time when all hotels are fully booked because of the annual meetings of the United Nations, there lies a team of helpful staff that are willing to assist in all sense of the word including finding a room for me in this beautiful bit busy hotel.

The whole team is well groomed, well trained having always a smiling face even when the tides go up.

Room Tip: Choose always the top floors : great views

Thank you for recognizing our staff for their poise, attentiveness, and caring demeanor during the busiest week of the year at our hotel. Hosting a multitide of guests and dignitaries from around the world during the United Nations General Assembly is a challenge we truly enjoy and we are thrilled that you appreciated our efforts. Thank you again!

Great experience. Staff was nice and friendly, especially the doormen. About 20 minutes from Times Square (walking) and 5 minutes driving. Close to many shops and restaurants that are in walking distance.

the hilton manhattan lives up to 3 star standards. the rooms were small. had room facing a.....WALL. the location is great though. the room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. the staff made a few erros with requests so i would rate service as average. the hotel was sufficient for what we required. the area is quite busy and loud at night so may not be good for light sleepers. it was an adequate stay.
