Hilton New York Grand Central

It is true the hotel's basic rooms are tiny, but this place has an excellent location. Close to the Rock, Central Park, and Park Avenue. Plus, the nearby subway stops make using the subway a breeze. The rooms are clean, quiet, and appointed nicely enough. I think for the location and for around $200 a night, this pace is worth a return trip. We spent so little time in the room, so it was enough that the rooms were clean and functional.

I did not pick this hotel, it picked me after I submitted a bid of less-than-average price for Manhattan hotels. I was concerned initially, since it's an older hotel, not as many amenities as newer hotels, and a few negative review comments. My husband and I were VERY pleased with this hotel. Everything about the service, friendly and attentive staff, and hotel room was more than satisfactory. Positives: great value, clean updated older hotel, very close to Grand Central Station, very safe area, very convenient, very clean room without show of wear/tear and age, wonderful staff from concierge, doormen, desk clerks, bar and wait staff, and room attendant, comfortable bed and pillows; nice hot shower. Negatives: workers outside our room window on 20th floor doing upgrades to hotel (notification letter w/ advance apology to guests was displayed at front desk upon check-in)- however, work did not start until 8am/830a; room was too warm, unable to keep comfortable using thermostat- turned off thermostat and kept window open.
We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone. Basically in NYC, you just need a nice, quiet, comfortable place to sleep and shower as most of the day is not spent in your hotel room! Free wi-fi downstairs in the lobby/bar/lounge area!

Room Tip: Ask for courtesy upgrade to King- if available, they will accommodate request.

Small (but nicely furnished) rooms with tiny windows. No mini bar so we ordered two beers and a scotch which with tax, service and tip came to USD70!! Internet prices are abusive and connection is mediocre. The lobby is depressing and the surrounding area is dull. At USD320 a night this hotel has little going for it.

We stayed her during a rare NY snowstorm. The coldness of the weather was nicely balanced by the warmth of the staff, particularly the bartender and waiter. Food was surprisingly fresh, unique and tasty. The rooms are stylish, and very clean. They are somewhat small, but what do you expect in a downtown hotel. Wish they would include internet access in the room rate. IS close to the UN(walking distance) and the Chrysler building. Short walk (about 4 blocks) to Grand Central Station to access the subway and/or trains.

Hilton apparantly hates their guests: if you use the internet in your room, they charge you separately for every device you use! For me and my wife's phone, plus our iPad, they charged 3x15$ ! I will never stay here again.

I've seen some negative reviews but all in all this is good hotel in a great location. You are within two miles of anything you would like to see. While the rooms are small, I didn't feel cramped. There was plenty of room in the bathroom as well.

The hotel is very nice, and the rooms are great, for manhattan, Dont expect a huge room, but there was enough room to move around. The shower on the other hand had 7 step directions on the wall. Thank god for the directions otherwise someone would have had to come show us to how use it. There was no taking a quick shower when it takes 5 minutes to figure out how to use it. The hotel is close to grand central, and far enough away from the tourist craziness. So if you want a hotel that does not have insanity of Manhattan outside the door then this is your place.
