** Location: Great location about 400 metres from Grand Central Station. Walking distance to Empire State building, Times Square, Chrysler Building, St Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Centre.
** Staff: Very friendly and helpful.
** Rooms: Decent amount of space, nice bed and bathroom. Clean and comfortable. Very strange japanese kettle which took a while to figure out! :-)
** Cost: Considering the location and room, it was good value for money. Worth it

We managed to get a real deal on this hotel; we paid about $1280 for five nights, which is dead cheap for such a nice hotel in New York.

Very nice hotel indeed! Great staff who took care of everything; even gave us an european electric adapter for free when ours broke. Also had a lovely little souvenir shop which sell all sorts of cute gifts.

Fabulous and spacious room facing the Empire State Building. Very posh bathroom with nice free toiletries. Most comfy bed I've ever slept in! Sound proof windows - I didn't hear a thing.

Located in a very exclusive part of New York. Walk a few blocks to get something cheaper to eat unless you want to splurge. Hotel has both restaurant and jazz bar but we never tried it out.

My husband and I stayed and the Kitano New York for 6 nights. We were initially looking for something nearer to Times Square but we are so glad we stayed at The Kitano. The location is so much better. It is quieter but close to all attractions and in a much safer neighbourhood. It is literally a 5 minute walk to the subway, which takes you everywhere.
We stayed in a Junior Suite which was a great size, with a King size bed, a sitting area and a great bathroom which has both a separate shower and a bath tub. The 2 windows in the room looked out onto Park Avenue.
The service was great. The staff were always very helpful. We had breakfast in the hotel a couple of times and it was very good a reasonably priced by normal hotel standards. There are a few other places close by, including Pershing Square opposite Central Station which is a must for breakfast.
The only issue would be that while they have wireless internet access, you had to pay for it. Also, there are no tea and coffee making facilties in the room, just Green Tea.
If we get to New York again, we would certainly stay here again.

we travelled to new york for our honeymoon and spent xmas in the kitano hotel. on arrival things seemed fine. we asked at reception if they were putting anything on for xmas day which was the next day, they said no. there was not a xmas decoration to be found in the hotel, not even a bit of tinsell! our room was clean but size wise was small. ok we had a king bed but that was it. we spent xmas eve watching the people run around trying to get the last minute shopping done and that was fun so the location of hotel for central new york was very good. on the way back to the hotel we had a few drinks and then on arrival at hotel felt like a couple more before heading to bed. my wife went ahead of me and when i arrived to what they call a bar she told me that for us to have a drink we should have made a reservation, strange considering we were residents and payed alot of money. we eventually had a drink but the jazz session that was playing sent us on our merry way to bed, it was not xmas for us. we had xmas dinner the nest day in an italian restaurant and it was not what we hoped for. To our amazement on the way up the lift to our room we became aware that the hotel had a very nice looking set xmas dinner menu on that day and was very reasonably priced, why didn't they tell us this when we asked upon arrival, were we not worthy of eating there, did they not want us?????

We only used the hotel as a bedroom after this and spent our days away form it. On the last nite i felt like a drink in the bar and again the same story, booking required and jazz playing, i mean there is more atmosphere i a morge than this bar!

We also had to arrange our own travel to the airport on leaving but i must say the concerige was very helpfull and must applaud him on all he did for us.
