We stayed at the hotel as our first stop on a 'round the USA' trip. For the price you can not fault this place. The location for us was perfect we decided to walk as much as we could so rarely took the subway/cabs but when we did it was $25 to ground zero in a taxi and $2.75 each on the subway to get back. If your looking for a budget stay this place is definitely for you. Staff were really nice and gave us tips on things to do and when. Wendy's and subway are just over the road and there is a place called bread and butter which was AMAZING! They do all fresh food so you can get freshly made pizza and pasta all day and it's cheap too!!
Knocked off a star because the decor in the room was actually vile! When you walked on the carpet and then tried to open the door the static was really bad!
All in all I feel that this is a brilliant hotel in an amazing city and would definitely recommend it!

The hotel was brilliant, upon entering the reception you are dazzled by the Parisian art and decor, and I have to say its stunning. The staff are very helpful and they solved any issues that occurred ie door key but that's it. The cleaning staff are very friendly and they always say "hi" when you see them. The rooms were brilliant and cleaned everyday. In the morning the hotel put on complimentary muffins and tea/coffee and they were extremely tasty. The best part of the hotel you are right next to The Empire State Building and the view from my room looked straight at it. Overall an excellent stay and I would stay again. Thanks!!!!!

Booked the Wolcott Hotel months and months in advance of our stay in December and have to say the price was excellent.
If your trip to New York involves sightseeing and shopping you'll find the Wolcott is in a great location. Literally 2 mins from the Empire State, 5 mins or so from Macy's and maybe 10 mins from Times Square. And as we found out towards the end of the stay, just a few minutes walk from Korea town!
I had booked the Junior Suite, for 2 adults and our 11 year old son. Though nice and clean, the size of the room felt quite junior. Not the end o the world to us, we didnt go to New York to spend all our time in a hotel room, but all the same, it was quite a lot smaller than I thought it would be. On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the bahtroom. While
not huge by any means, there was certainly enough room to move around in! The decor felt fairly new, but old fashioned. The room was clean and our housekeeper greeted us with a friendly helllo every morning.
We found the free tea/coffee & muffins in the lobby each morning got us going for the day. The laundry room in the basement was really handy!
Whats stopping me from giving 5 out of 5 is the plumbing. It was Noisy. Very noisy.
Did we have a view from our room? No we didnt, but in fairness it wasn't a big deal.
Would I stay in this hotel again, if I ever have the fortune of visiting this fantastic city again? Yes, considering the price of it, I would!

Just got back from a four day stay at the walcott. The hotel is in keeping with the new york olde world style couldnt have wished for a nicer stay in this hotel all the staff were very friendly and very helpfull. maid service excelllent. Room excellent just what you would expect from a 100 year plus old hotel its not a modern day living hotel so if thats what you want go stay in a modern hotel. Some people like history and class. Will definatley be going back. Thankyou to all the staff. Hope to see the old Ballroom in working order in the future.
Many thanks.

We stayed there in February for 5 nights and loved every moment of it. The room was very clean and staff was very helpful especially Valentino at the front desk. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone trying to enjoy themselves in a great location of the city.

Three days at the Wolcott can essentially be described as convenient and affordable. Sadly, the hotel has a potential to offer much more than the current average accomodation. The "new" heating in the rooms is hard to comprehend: it's either boiling hot or cold. The hotel owners would have better been advised to invest into better windows / insulation. The payback would have been very fast as the windows are as effective as an open gap in the wall. On the other hand these leaking windows are an effective method for supplying fresh air to the rooms which were completely overheated and are equipped with windows which cannot be opened. While the entrance hall to the hotel clearly speaks to the former historic charm of the building, the overall poorly maintained and unprofessionally renovated condition unnecessarily distracts from the obvious potential. Also, investing into the basics needed in a furnished room would be appreciated by the traveler. My room only had a bed and a TV on a shelf.

Room Tip: rooms facing the road are quite loud and rooms on the inside of the inner court are quiet but have n...

Stayed at the Wolcott for a week during the freezing cold weather in Feb. The heating was never on when we needed it and couldn't be controlled in the room so we had to call the reception every time we wanted the temperature changed. The staff and concierge weren't very helpful. The bathroom was tiny and the pipes in the shower sounded like a plane taking off for the whole time the water was running. The decor was incredibly old fashioned. Not a great experience all round. Definitely wouldn't go back.
