A very good location in manhattan. On arrival we found that our room had been upgraded to a 'junior suite' which was a good start. We were at the back of the hotel which meant that it was very quiet but lacked any real daylight.the rooms were reasonably decorated if a bit dated and were clean and tidy.
The staff proved to be very helpful with things like recommendations for restaurants , places to see and travel arrangements.
Free muffins and coffee/tea were provided for breakfast but its a shame there's no restaurant on site.

For this price the largest room I've had. Service was excellent and we returned each day to an immaculate room, staff very helpful and the breakfast muffin a bonus. As well positioned in the city as any, right on the N,R and Q lines.

The Wolcott hotel was recommended by a friend, foremost for the excellent location in Midtown Manhattan. Some great sites are on walking distance, like the Empire State (5 min.), Bryant Park (10 min.) and Times Square (15 min.) and you can easily join subway stations (5 min.) to connect with other parts of the city. The room was clean and the muffins and coffee they serve will do for breakfast if you add some fruit or yougurt by yourself. We just have one downside and that is the noisiness of the room due to traffic in the 31st street (and the poor road quality), so you will need ear plugs to sleep well (which in our case helped a lot).

Room Tip: From our corner room we had a view on the Empire State Building, but it was very noisy, even with th...

Nice hotel, reasonably priced, neat and clean toilets. Helpful staff. Muffins and coffee/tea available for free in the mornings at the lobby. Unnecessarily expensive wifi that you pay for and have to use up in one shot. ( approx US $ 5 for 30min.). Does not have a restaurant. Very near Empire State building and United Nations.

Room Tip: Unable to help with this.

I stayed for 4 nights with 2 university friends in a 3 bed room - as soon as we saw there were 3 separate beds, we relaxed!
We spent very little time in the room and so location/value was key for us.
The hotel is perfectly located in Midtown for a 10 minute walk to Broadway theatres etc. and 20 minutes or so to Greenwich Village - New York is a great walking city and so this was perfect.
Very good value for 3 of us - $1,100 between 3 of us.
Room was a good size, bathroom a little poky but fine and the hotel has a lot of character. No restaurant but good muffins/coffee in the lobby for breakfast which was great at the start of the day.
Service was efficient and rooms kept clean.
All in all, very happy with the choice of hotel and a very enjoyable weekend.

We stayed some years ago but from loads of good reviews I can see it still retains a good name! We had a back room, so no real view of New York, but it didn't matter, the 'feel' of New York was there. Everywhere was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Using credits one could use the Internet downstairs, next to the muffins and drink breakfast area. There was of course a lift. The location was perfect too, certainly within walking distance of the souvenir shop! The Foyer is a sight to behold, if we return this hotel would be our first choice.

In the words of a well known British TV show, location is everything when you are visiting the Big Apple! After quite a bit of research this was one of the few places I found that could provide me with a Triple room for me and my 2 teenage kids in the middle of Manhattan! A spacious room with 2 single beds in one part of the room and another on the other side of a dividing wall and an adequate ensuite bathroom. Just 2 blocks and a 3 minute walk from the Empire State Building which is visible from many of the bedrooms at the front of the Hotel! Problems dealt with quickly by hotel staff and a guy on the front desk even organised a copy of the Knicks game on dvd for my son to take home. Traffic a little noisy at night and early morning, and perhaps the decor a little dated but this is New York, the city that never sleeps, so..................what do you expect?? When you have been out and about all day, getting to sleep isn't a problem! The complimentary muffins and coffee, available in the foyer every morning, were nice too! Undoubtedly a good choice for that 4 or 5 day trip to NYC on a budget!
