“Good food, pushy service”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

First of all, the good side. food is good, rather correctly priced. We got a mixed beef platter, and the quality and quantity of the meat was great. The wine - a pinot noir from Oregon - was also very good. Was really impressed.

However ... the service was too pushy. I guess because we came a bit late, and the waiters were dying to get home, they basically stuffed the food into us. We had a waiter cooking for us all the time, which was not necessary, but I guess he wanted to make sure we wasted no time in talking, and out mouth was always full of food.

You might call it proper service? Rather annoying if you want to talk business with someone ...

“Excellent food, tricky seating”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

Excellent food. We had the marinated beef platter. Great interesting selection of dips and veggies. You have to be a bit flexible/coordinated to get low and slide your legs under the table. Comfortable once seated.

“Good Galbi / Bad Bulgogi”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Had lunch here last week, and was not that impressed. It was unusually empty, perhaps a reflection of what others are commenting about it going downhill. Ordered the Bulgogi and spicy chicken. Got really bad meat given to us for the beef - what my Korean friends quietly refer to as "white man's meat" since the good meat is often reserved for native speakers who know their meats like an Argentinian knows their steak. The spicy chicken was fine, but mostly dark meat, not the light meat served at the establishments in the DC area. The beef was so bad I ordered the Galbi instead, which the next table over said was the dish to order. They were largely right, it was good enough. Service was largely fine, but didn't care to find out why the Bulgogi was left uneaten. There are so many other places to go, I wouldn't bother coming back to this one.

“Great Korean BBQ, Especially for Novices”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

My wife and I ate here for an early dinner on St. Patrick's Day after a DC United-Red Bull NY soccer game. We arrived at around 5pm and were immediately seated (we did not have a reservation). We are novices to Korean BBQ and have only tried it a few times. The staff was very helpful when we asked for recommendations (apparently Thierry Henry eats here on occasion). The marinated beef ribs were fantastic and the scallops were very good. We ordered the Korean pancake (kimchi) as an appetizer, which was a bit bland. Otherwise everything was great and entirely consistent with past internet reviews/ratings.

“Great, traditional Korean restaurant”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

We sat in the slightly uncomfortable but traditional Korean tables. Had the Kalbi, pork and chicken, all grilled at the table. The kalbi was very good, pork was good, the chicken was uninspired, just grilled chicken really. Also ordered the seafood pancake, yuk kae gang, which is a spicy beef stew and mandu soup, which is not spicy at all. I had non Koreans with me so the variety was good for them.
