It was a cold wet morning and we were on the lookout for somewhere different to take breakfast.

We found Blue Dog Cafe. The door is to the rear, not the roadside.

It was around 09:00 on a Monday morning.

The cafe was very busy but luckily they had a table for two by the window.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with dark wood panelling and bar. There are a number of small tables and one large rectangular table in the middle. Although a little congested it has a great atmosphere and we received fantastic service from Juan.

There is a large screen on one wall on which Charlie Chaplin movies were being projected!

If you visit the WC make sure you lock the door as the notice warns as the WC is directly facing the door that opens into the restaurant and failing to do so may provide even more laughs than Charle Chaplin!

The food was nicely presented and very tasty.

I can highly recommend Blue Dog Cafe.

When in on the Sunday during Memorial Day. There was about a 30 minute wait, but it went really fast. When we went inside I saw how small the place was. Very quaint, a little tight, but mostly quaint. The waiter came over and got us drinks right away. The brunch specials were awesome. Food was well prepared, tasty, and the service was great. Definitely a good place to go before a show. Price was reasonable and over all a great meal.

Three of us wound up at high top near the door - this was a big improvement over a long thin high top table near the street side of restaurant which would have jammed us in with barely any room for plates and glasses. Unless you get a regular table this is rough seating. Charred cauliflower ($10) which is usually great was not even near charred - we sent it back for another try but even that was not the usual charred. Must have been a big rush in the kitchen. Be warned it's a tiny serving. French fries ($7), buffalo wings ($13), and vegan burger ($19) were okay.

We visited for lunch. I had a Philly Willy burger - one of the better burgers I had in NYC that week. My wife had the waffles - these proved to be very substantial with the usual ice cream, banana, and maple syrup - too much for one person really. Place is compact, service was good.

This was an accidental find, but left us happy. The menu is mostly burgers, but the selection is wide and delicious. I ordered the Pollo Loco and couldn't get over the size of it!
Absolutely worth the price. Service was outstanding!
