Everything was wonderful here - from check in to check out. All personnel were extremely helpful, pleasant and courteous. A hiccup was the keyless entry didn't work all the time and then my room key stopped working. Our room was wonderful, the view terrific. I will say that the food at the club could have been a tad better. The warm apps weren't so warm. Maybe a warmer near by. They ran out of clean silverware - used plastic until they were cleaned. Also, having the same food all the time (except for one or two items) became boring. Loved the room service menu's name. Loved the hang tag for breakfasts name. I would absolutely stay here again.

Hi BarbaraSS and thank you for the review. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed our well designed guest rooms and service provided by our team! However sorry to hear about your experience in the Club Lounge provided by your status within the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program did not meet your expectations. We are in the process of launching our new menu in the Club Lounge for the duration of the summer. We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back on your future travels to NYC. Take care. -Justin Ellison, Assistant General Manager

The Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel far exceeded my expectation. The hotel was modern and very welcoming. The check-in process was fast and staff was very pleasant during my staff. My city view king sized room was outstanding. The room was emaculant and house keeping did an outstanding job daily keeping the hotel and my room very inviting and emaculant. It was great coming back to the hotel every night to my room. The bell boy, bartender and staff throughout the hotel were all very pleasant and professional. The security at the hotel was very efficient and I felt safe returning the the hotel every evening. I like that you need your room access car to access the elevator.

The location of the hotel far exceeded my expectation. 3 minutes from Penn Station and minutes from all the various subway lines one would need to get around the city. From JFK terminal 8, I took the JFK air train ($5) and Long Island Railroad ($7.50) and arrived at Penn Station in about 40 minutes. Penn Station has and is undergoing a full makeover. I was surprised to see how beautiful and safe Penn Station is now compared to years past. There is a strong police present in Penn Station and the homeless problem from years past was not visible.

There are numerous dinning options near the hotel and my favorite bagel shop (Best Bagel & Coffee) is located across the street from the hotel.

The Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel will be my new go to hotel. I look forward to my next stay in November.

New modern hotel, the best I've had so far in that area.
Great location.
Had 2 rooms. The first, a surprisingly large "City View" room on the 20th floor. Modern, clean, quiet, highly-equipped, and with excellent city views. The other room (on the 8th floor) was much smaller and with only street view, but otherwise had similar fine attributes as the other room and with the addition of a nice reading sofa by the window.
Large lobby on the 6th floor, comfortable and well designed.
Effective staff service.
Awesome Gym! Huge (occupying 2 full hotel floors!), free 24/7 access to hotel guests, and with super professional and well-maintained equipment!
On the downside, weak water pressure in the shower.

Room tip: City view rooms on the higher floors.

The hotel is close walking distance to Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, and obviously plenty of shops and restaurants.

The lobby isn’t huge. It can become busy and congested. Front desk staff were helpful enough.

The king room I had was New York size a/k/a small. Not unusual. The bed was comfortable. The flat screen on the wall was a good size. The shower is one of those where there is partially shaded glass looking out to the bed and window. There is a safe and a little fridge. There is a sitting chair.

The club lounge was not very big, but it was fine. Breakfast offerings were slightly above average for such lounges. There are coke products and large waters available.

Their gym is actually a full-size Planet Fitness located on the second floor. This is great and allows you to have a complete workout.

This is a good hotel overall.

Terrific stay. Many choices in NYC, and I lucked into this Renaissance. I chose the hotel for its location - across the street from Penn Station, subways and buses. Excellent. But there is so much more to this hotel than convenience. Staff extra-special friendly, helpful, efficient and professional. Rooms very comfortable, well maintained and clean (what you expect in a Ren hotel). Executive Lounge has so many choices but you can still have a healthy breakfast. Coffee and cold drinks supplied during the day. Evening snacks could be dinner - but, hey, this is NY and you want to try the myriad of restaurants in the neighborhood. Felt super safe in hotel. No one can get in unless they belong there. This will be my go to hotel in NY. Special thanks to Richard and Caleb for enhancing our stay. I wish I could remember the ladies' names at the front desk. Everyone was super. Thank you.

Room tip: Room was quiet. Special windows. Super view s from South side.
