We booked this place earlier in the year under its previous name. The location is definitely just what we wanted (a subway station is almost directly opposite) and the historic nature of the building was outstanding. The refurbished room we were checked into, also met all of our expectations regarding style and size. It was an apartment style large room with a full kitchen (including a dishwasher), excellent storage and a bathroom that had a shower above a bath tub. The extra high shower head was certainly appreciated by my partner who is very tall. We stayed for over 6 nights, so the ability to unpack and place items in the storage behind the bathroom mirror was great.
The bed was nice and large and very comfortable. The service on check-in was friendly and helpful and we got great support from the front desk when we had to use the laundry next door due to renovations on level 6. Housekeeping was very good too. They tidied our room each day and cleared out the dishwasher every time we used it, which was really nice. Other conveniences in the room included a safe for our valuables and a SMART TV.
The only two issues that were not great were the awful internet connectivity and the horrendously noisy rubbish trucks that came overnight (usually around 3am and then again around 5am). Our room was facing Cedar Street and this may not be a problem for those whose rooms face Pine street, but trust me, despite double glazing, the noise in the street overnight to remove all the waste left for collection was awful. It was so loud that on two nights it woke us up and we were not able to get to sleep again as the trucks cleared the almost 15 waste bins and piles of waste bags.
As we were on holiday, the internet connectivity was not such a big deal, but our devices kept dropping out of the wireless connection - so we were not able to do much. It was probably the worst internet connection I have had in a long while.
