Trips to NYC from upstate NY have been few and far between over the last couple of years. The opening of a new bagel shop near our home in Clifton Park only underscored the need to plan a trip to Ess-a-Bagel to resupply our freezer. There is still nothing like an Ess-a short of going to NYC.
While I stayed in the car my wife went in to buy two dozen. She had hoped to also pick up some cream cheese with lox but she said they had none. In fact, she said that her two dozen bagels just about cleaned them out. This was about 4:30 pm on a Saturday.
After a stop in NJ, we got home about 11 pm and thoroughly enjoyed a big doughy, chewy, and flavorful bagel each, with cream cheese. Since then, a couple more have been defrosted from the freezer and enjoyed. If you include the cost of gas and tolls, I don't want to even attempt to calculate the cost of each bagel... but trust me, it was worth it!
