“A Hidden Jewel”
Reviewed August 12, 2011

We stumbled upon this restaurant and were hesitant to enter, as the pizzaria on a nearby corner had a long line and this one had none. We did a quick Google search and found excellent reviews, so gave it a try.

It is very small but nicely done. We had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The hostess/waitress was very friendly.

The caprese salad, BLT (from Sunday brunch menu), and margurita pizza were all divine! The large pizza was an oblong shape and thin crust. The salad was served in a large bowl - enough for a meal for me. The BLT was served on focaccia bread. My husband couldn't stop saying how good it was and it was more than he could eat.

Sodas served in glass bottles with a glass of ice. Tea served in a Mason jar with handle.

Will definitely return.

“What a Salad!”
Reviewed July 26, 2011

Great resonably priced restaurant near Little Italy/China Town at $30 for 3 adults: fantastic brick pizza, whole grain pasta and tomato sauce, a large enough salad to feed two people, salad with chicken, truffle/balsamic and real chunks of parmesean and pears...wow good food, and friendly waiters.

“L'Asso means "Ace"”
Reviewed October 5, 2010

We enjoyed our weekday lunch at L'Asso. My steak panini, pomodoro soup and coffee were scrumptious. My girlfriend's pasta fresca spot on. The place itself is very informal and the service a bit relaxed, but we really enjoyed our meal there. One suggestion: lower the volume on the music so that people can hear each other talking! Weekday happy hour is a real bargain: 2 slices & beer or wine for $6. Paninis with soup or salad run $8 to $12. However, L'Asso has a fairly diverse menu and I would suggest experimenting rather than just sticking to the pizza or panini.

“A hidden gem - don't tell anyone!”
Reviewed September 30, 2010

Great food (especially the pizza - they have their own wood fired oven). was there for both lunch and dinner over two days and it is just seriously good food, yet casual and relaxed. This no michelin restaurant, but what they do, they do well.

“Secret locals hangout. Be ready to eat a lot of pizza.”
Reviewed August 14, 2010

Definitely a locals dive so do not wear something that makes you look like you just stepped out of the car with Clark W. Griswald. That was a huge mistake. Skipping Lombardi's down the street however, was not. There is a reason you will find only locals here because they know where to go for the best, scrumptuously thin, wafer like crust fired in a brick oven with only the freshest, zaniest, mind blowing combination of ingredients laying on top. A+++++
