Nice restaurant on the Upper East side. Prices are reasonable for the area, food is good. I would recommend it.

I went for an early dinner and discovered happy hour. Great green salad, a few pieces of sashimi and $5 wine was a perfect way to end the day..

We always go to Amber for their happy hour b/c their saketinis are great! Its $5 per drink ( or around there) from 5-8 every day ( maybe not wkds). The place is nice and the sushi is good. My friend loves the seafood chowder! They usually give you free edaname too.
The one on the UES is a bit nicer and attracts more of a dinner crowd then HH crowd. The bar is alot smaller. Both are great!

In New York I live only two blocks from Amber on the Upper Eastside, but had never been there until last week. The sushi is delicious and fresh, but there are also delicious Chinese dishes and fabulous drinks to be had. The Peking duck buns are to die for as are the cocktails. The food is delicious, the service diligent, and the prices moderate. The ambiance is too dark and the large way-too-loud screen TV watched by the sports fanatics who cheer or boo at every move deter from a lovely Asian oasis.

Excellent quality and innovative rolls...very nice portions. Just wish my sesame spinach appetizer had a bit more sesame 'sauce' in it and was more beautifully presented rather than just 'plopped' in a bowl. In other Japanese restaurants that I've been to the spinach is not quite as dry and is shaped into what looks like sushi....it's easier to eat it that way too!
