Having watched a brief doc on the owner of Momofuku (a very likeable and passionate fellow), my companion aka as the idealist, booked a dinner at Ko. The idealist, a consummate vegetarian, was puzzled at seeing 2 large fridges with a T-bones ageing in the background. I thought I had failed in my research attempt, and started to feel guilty for the choice. Alas, the kind cook (one of 7 if my arithmetic did not fail me) told us that they catered for the idealist's tastes, which were titilated by a 17 course meal. The setting is modern, with a beautiful kitchen just behind the U-shaed counter where we sat. The dishes were sophisticated, but not to the point of being obnoxiously over researched. Subtle flavours through out and in portions which made the course marathon, a light affair. I am not a fan of set menus, but here the surprises being offered were enchanting. Everything is prepared in front of you and the pace at which they bring the dishes, leaves you ample room to look forward to the next. Service was exceptional and un-intrusive. The ascription of the dishes was short enough to allow people with goldfish memory like me, to remember what you were about to eat. Loved it. Highly recommended. The idealist agrees. Book. Go.
