“Good authentic Italian fare and wines, but not as quiet as Zagat says”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is a charming place with good authentic Italian food and wine, from all over the country. the appetizer package for the whole table is a good idea, and it's filling, especially those arancini fried rice balls. My veal chop was quite fine for 30 USD. The Gewurztraminer from the Alto Adige (Italian tyrol) a great tasty bargain at 32 bucks. If you like this grape by all means try it. The pasta dishes were all out of the ordinary and well-executed.
But we went here for quiet conversation as it is on Zagat's list in that category. It is not quiet when full....There was a big party downstairs on the saturday evening of our visit and thus the desserts took forever and were of course comped when finally arrived with the check. they add 20 percent service to parties of six or more....BTW, they messed up our reservation a bit, so call to confirm a day before to be sure. they said it was the computer....

“Great food, great wine, great date spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

This is the place you want to take your girlfriend. It's dimly lit, tiny, has one of the best wine selections in the city, and amazing food. (There's also a bigger, semi-secret underground perfect for a party.) Having been several times, my girlfriend and I always get whatever fish is on the menu that day and we have never been anything but impressed with the quality of the meal. The service is also great and the owners are usually around, which adds a nice touch to this little East Village spot.

“Inspired Italian cuisine and a wide choice of wines”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

My first visit to this restaurant and wine bar was a happy experience. The place is at once comfortable and without pretense but belies the serious attitude toward cooking and wine. Aroma's menu is imaginative and features many unusual pasta dishes as well as meat, fish and seafood. My pasta was perfectly cooked, al dente, and included a deep-flavor ragout. My companions had similar good experiences. The wine list is extensive and expensive, but there are quite a few offerings also by the glass. Our waiter was well informed and professional.
I look forward to another meal at Aroma.

“Great early evening enjoying a glass of wine.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

Stopped by for a glass of wine after our long walking tour of Little Italy and Chinatown. Place recommended by our guide. Decided to get Happy Hour aperitif special - three wine tasting glasses of wine and a small appetizer plate. Were there early enough to sit at the only outside table. Had a nice evening sipping wine and enjoy the people walking by.

“good location, but nothing special”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2012

This was convenient to my hotel on a recent trip. I was hoping for something a bit more hip for the Soho location. The decor is nice, but the food was really nothing special.
