Neighborhood: Financial District
Description: Located in the middle of the Financial District in downtown NYC, Pound & Pence is a traditional English Pub serving delicious food and cold drinks in a fun and lively atmosphere. We offer the typical pub atmosphere, with comfortable seating, a full bar and a menu of British favorites including bangers and mash, fish and chips, shepherd's pie and more. Libations from the expansive bar include British beer favorites such as Fuller's and Boddingtons, as well as several English Gins and a world-class collection of Scotch and Cognac. Good eating deserves good drinking! Unlike many other pubs, Pound & Pence is more than just a place to sit and drink. It's a place watch sports and cheer your team on. Our mezzanine level has a cozy fireplace and pool table to enjoy with friends, while our upstairs area has more of a lounge feel. We even have semi-private rooms to enjoy when you want to be separate from the crowd. Stop by for a fun night out with the family, a romantic couple's dinner or drinks after work. Our unique space is perfectly suited for events, from holiday gatherings and office parties to birthdays, happy hours and more. If you're hungry for our tasty food but can't stay to enjoy your meal, we have takeout available and can even deliver within a 1-mile radius.

very warm and fast service. finger food was ok, but very pricey, but isn't most of new york. hard to locate as entrance is on the side street not the main street as shown. don't think i would go back

There are very few real British pubs in the area. The only other one around was The Cricketer's Arms which unfortunately closed down. The bartenders are very friendly and only add to the enjoyment. The food is top notch as far as British fare and their burgers are very good too. It would be a sin not to stop in if you're in the area.

Widely varied menu including well prepared comfort food (chicken pot pie), unique sandwiches, and delicious desserts. A super neighborhood destination.

Good: I thought the food was good. I had the Kobe beef sliders and cottage fries. The staff were friendly and quick.. LOVED the decor. Very London-esque. I loved the seating too.

Bad: I do agree with one reviewer. The place was hard to find. The door to it is right next to the double doors of another place. I thought I walked into the wrong place. The sign for the restaurant should be bigger on the door. Just a suggestion. Also $4 for tea is a little too expensive, the pricing on the rest of the items were what I expect in a place like this. Just the tea threw me off.

I would like to eat here again

The place is a little bit hard to find. When you enter off the street you need to go up a flight of stairs and through a light door. The atmosphere is dark. Seating in high backed plush leather chairs. It is an open floor plan and yet it did not feel like other diners were intrusive. The menu is broad enough to accommodate a variety of pallets and they have a good selection of beers on tap.
