My old friend Roger Williams now goes only by his first name like Madonna, but given his new look, I understand. A hotel that is hip without self-consciously trying too hard like the W chain. It's a comfortable place with many different kinds of seating in the lobby- now with cocktail bar! Not that anything was wrong with the old decor, other than to say it was not what one would have expected in New York. I would call this a proactive remodel before things were notably out of date.
The staff is friendly and will make every effort to call you by name. I really felt the smiles and welcome were genuine. Rooms are not overly large, but big enough. Comfy beds and linens. Flat screen on the wall to save space. My room did not face the street and was unbelievably quiet. Bathroom is small and mine only had the strange glass shower stall, but it sufficed. Not a lot of room for your stuff around the sink. Bigelow bath products if that means anything to you.
Breakfast food quality is excellent. Wish they had bacon in addition to the sausage and more variety in the pastry selection, but the quality of the baked goods is top notch as one would expect in New York. Staff at breakfast also very helpful. Watch out when you get the check as tip will be added in for you. It is not inexpensive, but I have spent almost as much on take out food as I eat a full breakfast.
Roger delivers in a great neighborhood without the tourist craziness of some areas in New York. Whatever he calls himself, I keep coming back. Quality does not cost, it pays.

Room Tip: High floor, away from the street.

This is a very modern hotel. Reception staff were excellent as was our room. Although we were in the centre of Manhattan our room was quite. It was also very clean and comfortable. We had a large walk in shower, no bath and that suited us fine. ( I have not had a bath in years). Breakfast in the small restaurant on the mezzanine floor was excellent with two very attentive and extremely pleasant staff.
Empire State building was just around the corner as was the subway. We did not dine in the restaurant but ate out. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars in the area.

If I can get the same deal again I will most definitely return

My boyfriend & I stayed at The Roger for 4 nights and were very pleased with our stay. The location of the hotel is excellent. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. We had a good sized room and bathroom. I also really liked the Aveda toiletry products. Our stay was part of a touroperator package and though our stay wasn't cheap, we feel it was good value for money and we'll most likely be returning on our next trip to NYC!

We booked this through Hotwire and got a great rate. The hotel is located on Madison Avenue close to lots of restaurants and tourist attactions like the Empire State Building. The lobby is very nice. The room was very nice as well with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was small but good. Room was clean and well appointed. The view was of another building. The only issue is the 20 dollar service charge a day as I am not sure what that gets you. Also would be nice to have coffee and tea in the room available. Also there were no ice machines and when we ordered ice once it never came. I don't like having to order ice. Overall a good experience.

Great boutique hotel with a really good location and what sets this place apart is that it offers great service and you genuinely feel looked after while staying here. If like me you travel a lot with work and on an enforced budget for hotels or just like to travel and prefer boutiques, this place is superb. What sets it apart is that the rooms are actually of a decent size and let me be specific- you can for example use the toilet without having knees wedged against door or the shower and there are weird things like a closet, desk and decent room space to live/sleep in, so many NYC hotel rooms are beyond tiny!!

The hotel staff both on the desk and on the door are super helpful and the location is excellent for Time Sq and the Empire state as well as the fact that the taxis seem to know of the hotel which always helps if you are tired and only have the one line of the address.

The bed is super comfortable and the rooms impeccably maintained, it is also worth pointing out that the rooms are very quiet as they are triple glazed I think which is essential for such a central location so a good night's sleep is a dead cert!

My only criticism is that the breakfast buffet is really not all that great- eggs, sausage, porridge, yoghurt, cereals and granola and some meat cuts but no bacon (this is America right??) and pretty expensive for what it is.....$18+service.......

Stay here as it is a refreshing bastion of calm with efficient and courteous service in an otherwise hectic city!

Great location midway between Central park and Wall Street. Comfortable rooms, cozy bedding, uncomfortable and sharp bed frames, however. Pleasant room size, nice views, excellent light, poor soundproofing. Welcoming service, attractive lobby, great bar choices. A sleek looking property with an unbeatable address that allows you to catch any mode of transportation for easy access to any any NYC event. Great looks, friendly service and standard accommodation.

Room Tip: Terraced rooms are an excellent choice during the summer months. The lights, the views, the breeze...

The 2 nights stay here were great!
Clean, modern, comfortable.
Close to the metro station. It has a refrigerator. Many candies and beverages to consume, although expensive.
Sleeping quality was amazing, the attention perfect. I arrived early and was able to change clothes in a big bathroom they have in the lobby.
I also sent some packages bought through internet and received them perfectly.
It's very close to the Empire State Building.
I would recommend it to anyone.
