Amsterdam Court Hotel
Ranked #341 of 468 Hotels in New York City
Reviewed July 18, 2013

I was delighted with my experience at the Amsterdam Court hotel on my first visit to New York City. Everything we wanted was in easy walking distance. We explored Times Square, the Theatre District, Hell's Kitchen, 5th Avenue and Central Park up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The room was a bit small and dark, but it was comfortable, quiet, clean and cool in hot July. Service was friendly and the attention prompt and helpful. The roof top provided a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets. I could imagine paying hundreds of dollars more for a bigger hotel, but I can't imagine finding better service or a better location for my stay in midtown.

Room Tip: Our fifth floor room was away from the street noise.

So with limited choices for Columbia Graduation we chose Amsterdam. I was a little concerned but the room turned out to be larger than expected. The restaurant downstairs was perfect. And the staff was amazing. I had a few situations arise and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, helpful, responsive. The manager assisted. They were wonderful. The convenience to Morningside Heights was great and the doorman assisted with calling cabs expeditiously as many waited. Cabs to downtown for dinner were no problem and if you are unfamiliar w NY you can grab a cab from $6-10 and get almost anywhere from 10-20min. depending how far. Enjoy the old world charm of this hotel and appreciate it. It's cool.

We recently stayed at Amsterdam court for the last few night. We had stayed before and wanted to come back. It was even better this time around we saw familiar faces every member of staff bent over backwards to ensure we had a great time. We liaised with Vana who was there last time she was great we told her that we had just come in from Vegas and after our 7 night stay we were heading to Miami not only was she our personal got to for New york but she also but a list of places of hot places to go to in Miami.. we have just arrived back home and all the suggestions she gave for NYC were really and spot on and as for Miami she really came through for us- What an example of great customer service. Robert was really great he kept our bags till late in the afternoon without a charge the room was perfect on arrival we did get a comp upgrade to a two bedroom.

We saw the reviews after a recommendation from friends and was a little concerned but really there was no reason we arrived and the doorman assisted us with our bags at the desk the English lady was so friendly with lots of information for us as it was our first time. She had cookies for the kids the room was fine could do with more light and decor was not to our liking but the hotel had everything restaurant a bar we had breakfast which was a great price. (10dollors) with fruit and muffins bagel lots of choice we ordered room service which was at a good price. Best of all apart from such first class warm service. The location is outstanding we were recommend this hotel by friends and they were right we will be back!

Room Tip: We had room higher up it was great for us and the kids

I had a three night stay here at the Amsterdam Court hotel. It's centrally located, clean and for midtown reasonably quiet. There's a good sushi restaurant - Natsumi - with a lively bar. It's within a block of every subway line you'd need and convenient to theater restaurants, Central Park, everything.

Aabsolutely great location so 5 stars for that. The room was not bad except for how small it was, but it was only us two so we could handle it. The bathroom could have been cleaner and the maids should shed less of their hair everywhere!

We stayed here for 3 nights during winter time. The location is excellent close to many NYC tourist attractions. The rooms are clean, basic just adequate for couples. The subway station is just few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel staffs are very helpful and accommodating. This hotel is good value for money. Overall, we had a wonderful stay in this hotel and would like to stay here again in the future.
