“Awesome Brunch. Cozy Place”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Came across this place by chance. The interior is cozy with brick walls, wooden tables, interesting art work and a cool looking bar. This is a beer/wine place only. The brunch was great. We ordered a roasted chicken breast/arugula sandwich ($11) (this is an Italian restaurant so do not expect your sandwiches on whole wheat bread) and The Francisco ($9) -scrambled eggs with a side of roasted asparagus and of spicy apple fennel chicken sausage. Both dishes were full of taste and very sizable. The mimosa and bloody mary were strong and glasses were almost full. The service was pleasant and very chill. I would definitely return for brunch or dinner.

“Great Wine, Tasty Tapas”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

Grape and Grain graciously hosted our group of friends for a party at the last minute, literally. It is small and intimate but it was just what we were looking for for a girl's night out. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. We tried almost everything on the menu! The wine and beer were also fabulous. Thank you to the Grape and Grain for a fun evening!

“east village classic”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

One of the first places I discovered after moving to the city. I'd have to say this is the quintessential example of an intimate, cozy east village wine bar. The ambiance is fantastic with exposed brick walls, cozy wood tables(i.e. close to your neighbors), dim light and beautiful tin ceiling. This is a great place for a date, the person recommended it to me claims of a 100% success rate, I'll let you figure out what that means. Wine list is pretty reasonably priced for the city, and the food is generally decent. I've had most things on the menu, the short ribs over polenta is probably my favorite. It's a little deep in alphabet city, which is actually a plus since you're less likely to find drunken NYU kids or B&T folks stumbling around outside after you're done impressing your date at this east village gem.

“Against the grain (nextdoor)”
Reviewed July 12, 2010

Have been to Against The Grain, the attached bar next door (to Grape and Grain) on a quiet Tuesday night. Friendly staff, Good beer selection (even though I'm not a beer drinker!). However, had a few glasses of great wine from the chalkboard. (I'm pretty sure you can order food in from the kitchen next door.)

“Great wine place with super little beer neighbor...”
Reviewed November 30, 2009

This place is a real charmer in the Lower East Side! I have been going there since they opened... the owner gave it its heart and soul and it shows... great selection of wine and tasty tapas style menu... and guess what, if you are not in the mood for wine, right next door you will find its little brother "Against the Grain" that is all about the Beer!!!!

Fantastic little place!
