“Tiny but crowd will tell you, this is a place to stop by”
Reviewed November 14, 2011

We saw the place when going to Shake shack few blocks ahead. There are not so many good "gastro pub" at the end, and this one ranks good. Yes, the menu is short but of quality, yes the wines are not cheap, but good and served at temperature and the girl who served us was as effective as nice (and not the fake smile and the "I like tips" popping up from head).
You'll only struggle to find a spot to seat and then, stay and enjoy !

“Best wine selection in NYC in a cozy spot”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

The name Wine and Roses attracted us as well as the Merlot canopy with outside seating on a pleasant not too cold October night. Of course there were roses and wine glasses on the tables to start a romantic evening. We intended to go bar hopping but settled in here after looking at their extensive wine list. We ordered a recommended Pinot Noir bottle and the tenderloin pizza with a shrimp salad. Pizza was excellent and the shrimp were huge.
Manager was friendly and when he found out we were newlyweds he gave a us flutes of champagne. Service was great. Pricing was reasonable. Definitely would go back.

“A shell of it's former self...”

Yet another UWS wine bar pretending to be the first. Truth is "bin 71" was first. These folks are constantly embroiled in drama and chaos, eviction notices, police and court involvement etc. the new owners are exhausting and ex wannabes. It's tired, sad and lonely. Like some of the customers. I was a regular under the old regime. Can't say much but the bar staff are pretty good.

“JUST KEEP WALKING....”
Reviewed May 11, 2011

A ripoff even by city standards..a horrible shrimp salad which consisted of four undersize shrimp on a few leaves of wilted lettuce...$26...throw in a 8 ounce coke for $5, and you have no reason to stop here...glad I didn't order any wine....
