I stayed here with an old school friend. She flew in from Scotland and I came from Australia.
I had researched where we should stay endlessly on tripadvisor and came up with this. We had both stayed in hotels in NYC and wanted to experience something different. How lucky were we to find this. It was perfect for us. Bigger then a hotel room and with a kitchenette ( not that we cooked!) but could make coffee and essentials if required. Plenty of storage to hide the shopping. Bathroom was lovely and big with a great shower. It was in a fantastic neighbourhood with everything you could want on hand. The garden was very pretty and would imagine nice to have doors open in the warmer weather.
The owners were very helpful and booking so easy and efficient from far away. When we were there they seemed to anticipate your every need. It was reassuring they were just upstairs.
The High Line and Chelsea Markets just a stroll away was a huge bonus. We did a sailing sunset cruise from Chelsea Pier, again just a stroll away.
I can't recommend this highly enough and have rebooked for October when I visit with my husband.

We have stayed at A Garden in Chelsea 3 or 4 times, and each time it has been perfect. Unlike a hotel, A Garden in Chelsea gives you the sense that you are actually living in New York. The location is excellent with on street parking available over the week-end. It is close to the Chelsea galleries, excellent restaurants, interesting shops, the High Line and the West River Drive and running/walking path, and a subway ride away from other NYC locations. The room is large and comfortable with a small kitchen. It looks out onto a lovely garden and provides a wonderful respite from a day walking around the city. The hosts are friendly and helpful and even helped us extricate our car from a snowbank. A Garden in Chelsea is truly a perfect place to stay in New York.

A Garden in Chelsea was the perfect cozy spot for us to unwind and just enjoy a great neighborhood in Manhattan - close to friends, relatively light traffic, good restaurants and even street parking in a snowstorm. The elegant bath is worth the price of admission. Karen and Paul were great. We'll be back when we can enjoy the garden!

We spent 9 nights here over Christmas and it was fantastic. Close to Subway, Chelsea Markets and Pier with many great restaurants/cafes/pubs within walking distance. The 2nd floor apartment was well appointed and suited 4 adults well. Karen & Paul were awesome hosts from the first contact to our final day in NYC. Would highly recommend a stay here.

A Garden in Chelsea felt like our home away from home. Karen and Paul had put in a lot of thought to ensure that our stay was very comfortable, and were always on hand in case we needed anything. The location is perfect, being about a 5 min walk to the subway, about 5 min walk to the Chelsea Market and the Highline and Chelsea Piers are at the end of the street. We would highly recommend A Garden in Chelsea and wouldn't think twice about staying there again.

The location is excellent, just 3 1/2 blocks from the 8th Ave subway that runs uptown/downtown. The apartment is lovely with comfy beds, big bathroom, efficient kitchenette and well stocked bookshelves, located in a quiet residential area that is a welcome relief from the bustle and hustle of the city. Gourmet Deli and wine shop close by to stock the mini-fridge. The owners, Carol and Paul, are welcoming and helpful. In all, a great place to stay to really enjoy New York.

We found A Garden in Chelsea a terrifically located place to stay in NYC. We stayed in the 2nd floor apartment which was roomy, quiet and comfortably furnished. We were able to self cater as well as access the many restaurants in the area. Our hosts Karen and Paul were friendly and informative. A great place to base yourself for a 7 day stay and to experience NYC as a local.
