Stayed at The Plaza as part of celebrating my son's birthday. Had a gorgeous 1-bedroom suite. Normally stay in 5-star hotels but this is the best yet!! Brought a birthday cake to the room when we arrived & a signed card from Plaza staff - nice touch! Would go back in a minute!

Stayed at the Plaza for three nights, wonderful location. The rooms and public areas were beautiful, it is a shame that the renovation work detracts from the overall experience. The staff in the restaurants were friendly, but unfortunately not very effective not efficient. The three elevators were small, and so there was often a long wait, not helped by the fact that one was frequently taken out of service for VIP guests. I am glad that I stayed here for the overall experience, but would probably not return.

Stayed here last month, excellent hotel in a fantastic location, rooms are well furnished, spacious with really comfortable beds. Refurb has really livened this iconic hotel back to former glory, and for shopping couldn't be better situated

Tips

Played Bethpage Black, organised my own tfr, 39 miles to golf course, $150 each way, left at 5.30am, walk up tee times managed to get 7.27am, back tees, 7,500 yards, tough test, just proves how good the pro's are!

Jersey Boys is a great night out with supper at Sardi's after

STK in the Meatpacking district on a Saturday was a great night out, book early!

John's pizza on 44th, "no slices" best we found

Shake Shack in Madison Square Park for a burger, prepare to queue as now very popular

Walk the HighLine

Take a bus tour, though touristy was the best way round the city with good guides

Boat trip to see everything, iconic views of Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, etc

All in all a great trip, prepare to be tired!

Upon checking in, the front desk notified me that the suite that I reserved two months in advance, with a non-cancel clause would not be available for the four nights that I had reserved it. They rudely down graded me, and my family without regard. I asked to speak with the manager Ashlee, but she refused to come out of her office. After being checked in she called me on the phone, and had no explanation for the down grade. I was not happy, and demanded the room that was promised, she went on to tell me that I might want to find another hotel. The Fairmont manages this hotel, and is discracing this landmark hotel pass history. I have stayed there Four time, but will never go back

what a disaster. stayed at the hotel this weekend, and woke up to jackhammers at 8am on saturday morning. apparently, the whole hotel is going to by covered with cloth and construction crews will be working starting from 7am every single day except for sunday morning. every brochure in the room talks about the 'like new' renovation a few years ago...and now they are doing it all over? apparently they did a bad job, and the facade is falling apart. unless you plan on leaving your room at 7am every day, or don't mind workers, pipes and cloth covering every window, stay away.

Stayed at this beautiful hotel for 3 nights. The fabric of the place is amazing. Stunning bedrooms, bars and reception rooms BUT the staff are a so dismissive, rude and arrogant. This is not a cheap place to stay. I do expect the staff to at least be civil. If staff were to behave this way in th uk they would instantly loose their job. We had awful treatment from bar staff and waiting staff, though the doorman were helpful. Will not be staying here again.

I was extremely impressed with this hotel during our recent stay to NYC. The hotel and the rooms were very clean. I felt safe while we were there. And the best part? It's one of the most affordable deals in NYC. The hotel shuttle made it very easy to get to NYC public transportation. The staff was very helpful, from the desk clerk to the gift shop lady, to the transportation valet. I would highly recommend this hotel.
