“Not really impressed for a first time stay in NYC”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

The rooms, bathrooms, and beds were small. The keys deactivated constantly. The names of all of the guests in the rooms (3 rooms total 11 guests) were provided yet we still had to have the person that booked the room get a new key. Plastic shower curtains in a suite and plastic cups to drink out of are pretty cheap for the price you pay.

Rooftop pool wssgreat view thats about it . Looks are decieving on the pool size. It took 30 mins to clean off the table from the group before.

Rooftop bar was great. If you are a light sleeper do not stay on the tenth floor.

Also pretty disappointed to find out that the AAA discount could only be applied to 2 out of 3 rooms.

I would not recommend this hotel I am sure there are better places to stay.

The hotel was absolutely amazing between gorgeous views and an unbelievable rooftop area. The staff was very attentive and super helpful. Nicole Agnello made my stay feel like I was home, the entire trip.

Tiny bathrooms, functionality poor, next to useless Wi-Fi. In my opinion the hotel grading is wrong - should be one less star. Paper coffee cups, no glasses for water in the room (but a full mini bar), fine if you like to drink your wine or spirits from the bottle !

I stay here often for work, and even though the dark color scheme is not exactly uplifting, the staff are very professional and personal. They respond quickly to requests and check in is always support quick. Nick was especially helpful getting me a room witha good view last time. Color scheme is pretty dark and heavy, but otherwise a great place to stay. Clean rooms, nice bed, etc.

It was our second time staying at The Empire, our fist stay in 2009. After a great first experience, we couldn't wait to go back. However, The Empire turned out to be a disappointment. The rooms are so small, there is hardly anywhere to put your bags. The bathroom is the size of an airplane bathroom and in desperate need of maintenance. The shower doesn't have a full door, and everything in the bathroom becomes wet. Because of this, there was a bit of mold on the floor, and the wallpaper was beginning to peel of the walls. The rooftop pool views are amazing, but the pool is about the size of a bathtub. Although the hotel is in need of some maintenance, it is in a very good location, only a short cab ride to Broadway and SoHo.

I booked the hotel after seeing it on Expedia and reading multiple positive reviews. We got a double room and were pleased with the amount of space that we had. The lobby was really neat as well.

The downside is that I thought that I got some sort of deal by buying two pool deck breakfasts and that turned out to be a joke. It was continental breakfast, so nothing exciting. The pool deck did have a lovely view. I could have spent hours up there.

The staff that we dealt with were cool and nice, so all in all I enjoyed the limited time that we spent there.

We didn't get to check out the restaurant or bar b/c we were travelling w/ a kid, but that will happen on the next trip.

It was walking distance to the subway which was really convenient for us.

Dear Sara O,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Trip Advisor. It was a pleasure to have you and your family with us. It is great that you had a chance to visit the Pool Deck. We serve continental breakfast there daily. It is a perfect place to start the day with a cup of coffee while taking in the spectacular view of Lincoln Center. Thank you for staying with us and I look forward to welcoming you back to The Empire Hotel the next time your travels bring you to New York.

Regards,
