“Beautiful rooms! Friendly staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

In lieu of a typical classmate birthday party, we celebrated my daughters' eighth birthday in New York City with their best friend and her mother.
We are so happy with our choice to stay at the Empire Hotel.
From start to finish everything was perfect.
The concierge, Chris, was so friendly and helped us choose the perfect restaurant to go to with the girls and helped us to navigate through the city.
Somehow the front desk realized that it was the girls' birthday and we were greeted with six of the most beautiful and delicious cupcakes!!!!
The rooms were clean & beautiful with their earthy, warm tones.
The beds were so comfortable no one wanted to leave!!!
We ordered room service in the morning. The food came quickly and the person who delivered was happy to come in and set up breakfast!
Even when it came time to leave, the doorman (wish I remembered his name!) was friendly, making the girls laugh and he even helped us with our bags, carried them right to the cab and put them in the trunk for us.
All in all, we loved the hotel. We felt welcomed by the entire staff and comfortable in our room.
Would recommend the hotel to anyone. Great location. Great with children. Wonderful service.
Can't wait to go back for my birthday next month(sans kids, of course)!!!
Think I will ask for the same room!

I haven't seen Janet in 30 years and decided to pick a place that was convenient and where I've had great experiences in the past. I called the F&B director, Aaron Collins, who graciously had a side booth reserved for us. The lobby bar lends the three dimensional experience of lively excitement, a little privacy and a place to see and be seen. The service was excellent. Attentive and never obtrusive. Our server recommended a fabulous Italian red wine. We had fried calamari, the famous Empire burger and sliders - and of course the seasoned fries. Everything very tasty and delivered timely and hot!
30 years of catching up in the course of five hours couldn't have a better setting!
I love this hotel!
Thank you Aaron and your team!

right from the beginning when being greeted by the doormen the high level of service and personal attention was obvious. It continued to the front desk when we arrived 2 hours before check in and the women helping us had our room made ready for us with a smile. My children love the apples. The location to central park, lincoln center, and museums is excellent. The choice of casual and high end dining within a block of the hotel is second to none. The decor and rooms are sharp, comfortable, and clean. I highly recommend the empire

Room Tip: have stayed many times and all rooms have been top notch

I went to NYC for New Year 2012. I didn't actually have the pleasure of staying in this gorgeous hotel, however as it is the residence of the famous Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl I had to go for a few champaign cocktails in the lobby bar before leaving NYC.

The bar is stunning. The interior is really cool and it was a lovely atmosphere to sit and enjoy a number of leisurely drinks. The bar staff were incredibly friendly and the service was great!

I would recommend if you're in NYC then give the lobby bar of the Empire a try for a relaxing evening!

We travel all over the world with the family and I would have to say this stay was the worst experience ever.
Fist the hotel is over rated, honestly it doesnt deserve more than 2 stars and it has a rating of 4 stars.
The service was awful overall.
The pictures on the website do not do justice to this place.
$60 for valet per night which we had agreed on turned out to be $60 every time you exited and reentered the parking which means if you had to go out and come back for three times during that day you would end up paying $180 for that night and thats what exactly happened with us.
Rooms are extremely small.
theres a lot more to complain about but I think this is enough for anyone reading this review

Room Tip: the tip is that the rooms are so tiny even the king suite is not really a suite.

We stayed there this weekend and we were greeted warmly by the doormen as well as the front desk. We valet our car for $60/ night. Close to the Lincoln center, Starbucks cafe fiorello Columbus circle....
We checked in and were upgraded to a junior suite...which was lovely, clean, great view albeit noisy..but it's nyc..
Only issue was the lack of towels. We had two without wash cloths and the shower had half door which made getting warm in the shower difficult and not luxurious.
When you pay as much as we did, you expect the basics of towels or wash cloths... They should for the price have turned down service, comp 1/2 bottle of wine, flowers...etc.. Instead they give you bottles of water for $7 or nuts for $11 to purchase in your room...not classy...but it is a nice place to stay but they need to work on that...
