Me & friends booked this hotel in april, first we did`nt know about bed bugs at all, since it`s not so common in Europe. We arrived in the evening, after an 8 hour flight, the first
thing we meet, was an old building and a sharp and sweetish smell in the whole building, (later we discovered that this smell was from the bed bugs, a typical
bed bug invade) This was just the begining of our nightmare, you already wanted
to go home, just after 5 minutes. When we was going to pay for the rooms, we could`nt pay cash, because of some new rules, so we had to pay by credit card, and was forced
to bring all the money we had, walkin around in NYC, take the subway etc. Because
we did`nt want to keep our money on the rooms, you never know, it was some
strange people there sometimes. Some people seemed to live there permanent, but they were nice, so no problem there.
The first evening we spot a bed bug in the bathroom, and later a lot of them in my friends room. We walked straight down to the reception, the guy told us that there were no bedbugs, we asked him to come and look, he said that he could`nt because he was alone in the reception. But he let us change rooms. And we booked 7 nights in this bed bug hostel, after 5 days we did`nt get biten, but on the 6th day, I woked up with red spots on my body, in different places, I first thought that maybe it was because of the warm weather, after 3 more days, they begin to itchy, If you had mosquito bites, this is nothing compared with bed bug bites, I still have marks of them, almost 3 months later. I counted them, 18 bites total. So if you planing to go to NYC, don`t choose this hostel, they just think about earning dollars. If you can`t afford another hotel/hostel, choose another destination, and save money for a better hotel, if you plan to go to NYC.
The only positive things about the hostel, is the location, it is near a subway, and many
supermarkets around the corner. And most of the staff was friendly and helpful,
execpt for one women and the guy we first meet, he was not rude, but he gave us wrong information about the payment.More
