My Partner and I dined at The View restaurant in March this year. This was our first trip to NY so we were keen to try all new things. We booked a table in advance on the web site where we could also look at the menu, I would recommend this for people with children or fussy eaters, like me.
On arriving at the restaurant we were told there was a 30 minute wait for a window seat or we could sit anywhere else and dine now. We chose to sit anywhere and were glad we did as our table was between 2 window seats but set back from the window, which meant we still had a great view.
We ordered from the set menu at $79pp and 2 drinks with our total bill at $280. We thought this was fairly reasonable due to the fact that we were told by friends that it was expensive and it is common knowledge that in NY tax and tips are added to your bill.
Our waitress was very friendly, and very kindly removed some things from the chicken dish i ordered that i couldnt eat (even thought it was already set). My fiance had the pork which he enjoyed.
Two down points.. 1. Trying to find the toilets, and then trying to find your seat once you had finished. It was easier to wait until the toilets came round then go..
2. The dress code, it says on the web site 'business casual' but this is not the case. We ended up feeling very overdressed as there were people with jeans and NYC hoodies on.
We would certainly recommend this restaurant to friends and family and would suggest that diners look at the menu online before going.
Brilliant experience, lovely food, amazing view, would certainly return!
