My Partner and I dined at The View restaurant in March this year. This was our first trip to NY so we were keen to try all new things. We booked a table in advance on the web site where we could also look at the menu, I would recommend this for people with children or fussy eaters, like me.

On arriving at the restaurant we were told there was a 30 minute wait for a window seat or we could sit anywhere else and dine now. We chose to sit anywhere and were glad we did as our table was between 2 window seats but set back from the window, which meant we still had a great view.

We ordered from the set menu at $79pp and 2 drinks with our total bill at $280. We thought this was fairly reasonable due to the fact that we were told by friends that it was expensive and it is common knowledge that in NY tax and tips are added to your bill.

Our waitress was very friendly, and very kindly removed some things from the chicken dish i ordered that i couldnt eat (even thought it was already set). My fiance had the pork which he enjoyed.

Two down points.. 1. Trying to find the toilets, and then trying to find your seat once you had finished. It was easier to wait until the toilets came round then go..
2. The dress code, it says on the web site 'business casual' but this is not the case. We ended up feeling very overdressed as there were people with jeans and NYC hoodies on.

We would certainly recommend this restaurant to friends and family and would suggest that diners look at the menu online before going.
Brilliant experience, lovely food, amazing view, would certainly return!

Going for an evening meal at The view was a very special experience. Not only is the food absolutely amazing and well presented, but the views......and the way it changes as you are rotating is just something else.

The view is great. We had a large group celebrating a special birthday. Cocktails were good. Food was good. This is the kind of restaurant I would visit only for a special event -the cost is pretty high $$$. Enjoyed my visit but probably would not go back.

Was worried by the hit and miss reviews on TA but went ahead anyhow. Pleased we did! We were seated at a window which was great. The menu was wide enough to cater for our tastes...we had gnocchi with lobster to start, fillet mignon for main and I had New York cheesecake with strawberries for dessert.

We chose the wine flight and allowed the sommelier to make the choices. He did a great job particularly with the ice wine for the dessert course - simply scrummy.

The fixed price menu is $75 each so, with the wine, two aperitifs and a coffee it came to $320 for two. A lot of money, but without any question, worth it for us as we enjoyed lovely food and wine, served by attentive staff in a spectacular setting. For that special occasion, it lived up to our expectations

Lets face it you book this restaurant for the 360 degree revolving glass walled centre of times sq view over the city not for the food.We booked dinner before night fall to get the full vista in both daylight then the night skyscape & it is worth it.To deal with the food it was very good but not amazing, the amazing part was as night fell an electric storm started & forks of lightning zigzagged across the night sky hitting the lightning conductors of all the tall buildings wow .I cant promise you the same experience but the view is still worth a visit
