Nice intimate environment. Great food, courteous, knowledgeable staff. Seafood plates are heavy on the seafood.

“Good, but not so great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

I made a reservation here based on the reviews I read. I have eaten in the best italian restaurants not only in nyc, but across the country and this one while okay, does not compare. The waitstaff was pleasant but the food, was not thrilling. The artichoke salad was okay, the pasta was okay and the veal dish was fair at best. When the check came, being that this is an establishment that takes American Express, we wanted to pay with a $100 Amex gift card and the balance in cash. They gave us a hard time and didn't want to take the gift card, indicating it didn't work in their system. They then said they would take the gift card but would deduct a fee of $30 from the card so it would only be worth $70. As far as I know, an Amex gift card is as good as cash and can be used at any establishment that takes Amex. I even called Amex the next day and questioned this, and Amex verified that I was correct, that they should have taken it and that it is worth $100 dollars, not $70. What a scam at this restaurant. They were very happy to just take our cash. I will never go back to this joint based on what they did. And, quite honestly, how trip advisor ranks this #19 in nyc is quite unbelievable.

“Best Meal of the Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

This is not a tourist place, it is a very good italian restaurant catering for locals, business people and anyone who appreciates good food.

We arrived early so had a few minutes wait but instantly felt welcome. It was really busy for midweek. Our waitress was very professional telling us the specials, and not rushing us at all. One had risotto and she advised a half portion would be more than enough, how kind is that?

Scallops were cooked to perfection, in fact everything we had was delicious. From the complimentary bruschetta and olives, onwards. Service was attentive but discreet.

The cost was good for the quality of food we received and it will be our first port of call on our next visit. Thank you, there is great food in NY after all!

“Good Contemporary Italian in a Trendy Setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

Went here for dinner at 8 on Sat. night- we had a reservation and were seated right away. The place was busy but not full. When we left at 9:30, it was full.
Setting is hip, modern, sleek. I overheard the owner talking with guests and he is from Abbruzzee province.
If you are looking for standards like chicken parm, etc, look elsewhere. This menu is much more contemporary and inventive. Mussel appetizer was splitable with an excellent sauce. My husband loved his seafood risotto and I loved, loved, loved the sea bass! These are complex dishes with a lot of flavors going on. I like the service- attentive, not hovering, space between courses and they don't rush you out when your done eating! I would definitely return. Pricing is what you expect for quality food and portions (couldn't finish mine) anywhere, much less midtown New York.

“One of our favorite restaurants in NY”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

This is easily one of the best in NY. There're were three of us who had traveled to New York that day and were frazzled from the flight, taxi, etc. The restaurant did not rush us and we enjoyed seafood linguini, salads, wine, bread at our leisure. We always dine here when visiting NY!
