Stayed at the Jazz on the city 8/31-9/3. I have never stayed at a hostel before and was quite leary. My travel partner insisted that we travel as cheaply as possible and this was the best option that also included a private bath. I love this place and will stay here every time I visit NY. While most hostel cater to younger crowds, I did not feel out of place or unwelcome at all. I also was not disturbed by loud noises or "parties". Our room (404) was SPOTLESS and I know clean. I really appreciated the industrial floor, as it keeps down germs and such. The bathroom was sparkling clean. The tile in the shower looked fresh and was free from mold. The shower curtain also looked new, no mold or dark stains anywhere. The room was tiny but who cares about that in NY??? Everyday, our room was cleaned and we were given new (albeit threadbare) towels. I had brought towels from home anyway. Two single beds, with priavte bath and a small flat screen TV. After staying here I am now an ambassador for hostels and traveling cheaply. I really no longer see the need to save for a year to stay at the W when I can literlly decide to go to NY anytime and be able to afford it.
