This is a relatively difficult place to find - nothing on street level tells you its there. Then you go down some steps, along an alley and us some steps to enter what was once a prohibition bar.

Great decor in the 'seedy 20's' style. On the night we went it was quiet. A cash only bar. Drinks served in tea cups - quaint!

It was quite dark in keeping with the theme - but comfortable and friendly.

I would return - if I wanted to go for the experience of prohibition. I might even return just for a drink and to admire the nudes! (in an artful way of course!)

We are visiting from the UK and this actually came up on my Facebook event search. Turns out on Monday night they have live music.

So glad we came!

The cocktails are ridiculously strong but so cool to be drinking out of a teacup!

The music was great and so was the vibe.

We got there around 8pm and there wasn’t a table but I quickly jumped in once some people left.

Quite small but worth visiting!

This place was very cool. I recommend getting “bottle service”. For $200(cheapest bottle) you are guaranteed a table and you and your guests. Also they don’t try and kick you out once your bottle is done, and you can just switch to buying drinks once your done with your bottle. We went around 8:30 and it wasn’t too crowded but by 10-10:30pm it started getting packed, and it’s a smaller dimly lit place so having the table was well worth it. Consider this, if you have 4 people with you and you each have 4 drinks out of that bottle it will cost you the same but at least you have a seat!

Cool place. The first challenge is to find it.....

Once you do it’s a proper speakeasy vibe with low music and dim lighting (which is actually quite weird lol)

Good friendly cliental , very very strong cocktails served for some reason in tea cups.

The only reason I’ve rated it as average is because the first barman had a real attitude issue and was acting like a real jerk. (Note , we never have any issues with any staff anywhere we go but this guy, wow ...)

The other staff were great but he left a sour taste in my mouth and that wasn’t the cocktails lol

So if I’m the area again We will go back and just hope we avoid that particular barman....

Coolest little spot from prohibition days. Craft cocktails in teacups, beers in paper bags, live jazz. What else could you need? Dark, cozy, great vibe - its a dream.

Loved everything about this bar. The decor, live jazz, friendly staff and generously poured cocktails served in teacups.

We checked out this place because we are interested in the history of gangsters and prohibition. The atmosphere is great and vibrant. Cocktails are served in teacups like they did during that time period. Drinks are good, but very strong. We really enjoyed taking in the atmosphere and history of this place.

On Wednesday Nights from 9am to Midnight, Gotham City Blues hosts Blues Dancing! Many people join or watch. Some are very skilled! The space is large enough to sit privately or with a large crowd. The decor is unlike any in NYC. Immediately you'll feel transported to the 1920s and the cocktails are served in teacups. The doormen are nice, which is always a plus and there is no dress code, however, you'll feel better if you arrive in style.

Found the back room by accident. Would not have known it was even there! Super venue with great restoration and vibe. Faboulous band, go on a Monday evening to hear the live bands. Drinks are expensive but so is everything in New York! Had a fab evening.
