“Pleased with our stay - especially the front desk staff!”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

My husband and I recently stayed in this HI - good location for us traveling in from Penn Station and later going to MLB's All Star Game at CitiField. Although a small room, everything was very clean and the king bed was comfy. The breakfast was good and you can also eat on tables out front. Indira Singh and Arnold Clego were excellent at the front desk! They were very personable and efficient. We had requested early check-in but arrived before noon so no rooms were ready yet. However, it was a very short time later that they called to tell us our room was ready. We also were able to leave our luggage there before we were able to check-in. We would definitely stay there again!

Stayed here with a buddy for a weekend trip to NYC to see the Yankees. Found the hotel to be a very nice place close to everything for a good price. Room was a bit small but at least it had 2 beds which was a must. Room and bathroom very clean and beds comfortable. No bed bugs. Breakfast was included which was great. You got more than the usual continental breakfast which kept us going until we got to the stadium. Love the new Yankee Stadium BTW. Hotel is located a few blocks from the subway, and just over 10 blocks to Time Square which was about a 10-15 minute walk. Madison Square Garden is very close so if I go back this winter to see the Rangers, this hotel is a perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: We got a room on a higher floor which is always a good idea in New York. Less street noise.

Dear ianmap,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express Madison Square Garden. We are very pleased to hear that you and your friend found the hotel a great fit for your visit. Our proximity to several subway lines and Penn Station makes us an ideal location for those wishing to take in New York's local teams based in the Bronx, Queens and New Jersey.

We look forward to welcoming you back during hockey season! We certainly love to host our Rangers fans!

High prices paid for small rooms in the center. This place is no different. Rooms are extremely small and outdated. So, if you aim to spend some time in the room, this is not the right place.
On the other hand, hotel is clean and have good staff. Free breakfast is quite good or even can be considered satisfactory.
Best part of the hotel is the small front garden in front. When you came late to the hotel, do not walk in to the room. Get a free coffe from the lobby and sit in one ıf the tables in front. If you ar a smoker, this is a nice place to smoke :)

Dear Akif33,
Thank you for staying with us and your review. Our rooms are standard sized rooms for New York City and just renovated as of February so I apologize if they were too small for you. Our rooms are clean and our staff is great. We take pride in what we do. So glad you were able to enjoy the outdoor area. It is a unique and comfortable place for our guests.
I hope you will return and stay with us again.

I recently stayed at this Holiday Inn Express for one night on business in Chelsea. The location was excellent - only a few blocks from my client and plenty of places to eat nearby. I recommend stopping a Pret A Manger, right across the street, for a super healthy, freshly made breakfast. The staff was super friendly and the room was a great size! It's also very close to Highline Park which great for a break from business.

If you need a clean, comfortable, convenient, and helpful place to stay in Midtown, this is a sensible choice. Obviously it is not luxury hotel, but it has all that is needed for a great stay in Manhattan. Their 24-hour coffee and hot tea service is quite pleasant in the winter. The complimentary breakfast is well managed, and a great place to meet travelers from all over the globe. Staff were super helpful is accommodating my last minute need for an extra night stay. The only downside: elevators looked liked cargo elevators -- but not a problem... they might actually be under renovation.

Dear JazzyBosch,
Thank you for your FIVE STAR REVIEW! We are so glad you able to enjoy your stay. We provide complimentary breakfast, wifi, business center and gym along with the coffee and tea you mention. We are a very sensible hotel when looking at NYC properties. We are proud to have a great staff to help in any way possible. It is our standard. The elevators are getting upgraded! So please return to see how they look.
I hope you will stay with us on your next Manhattan trip.

We flew into newark and took bus to Port Authority. We walked the .5 miles to the hotel and stayed 2 nights. About a 15 minute walk to Time Square. Close to subway or taxis for other things.

I liked the fact there was little traffic on 29th street. Outdoor seating area (unfortunately used mostly by smokers). Very good breakfast, good eggs (hard boiled too). Coffee not bad.

Staff very friendly. Stayed on 11th floor, elevators reasonable in speed. Room was VERY small, two double beds snuck in. Could not even roll suitcases to side of the bed. TV nice/new. Bathroom was fine. Bed was very firm :(

Let us have late check out and stored our bags for the day. We rented a car later in the day and were able to park right in front of the hotel (loading zone) to pick them up.

Dear tgbdp54,
Thank you for staying with us and giving us a FIVE STAR REVIEW,
We have a great space on 29th street close to Penn Station. Sorry about the smokers, it's not allowed in the hotel so they use the outside. We get our guests started with a complimentary breakfast daily. Rooms can be considered compact compared to large hotels outside the city. Let us know if you need us to store luggage, we will be happy to.
Next time in NYC, I hope you will return to stay.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. Hotel was close to everything.Located in a clean safe feeling area. Our room was nice and clean with a nice comfortable bed and pillows. My wife who always complains about hotel beds, loved the bed here so much that she did not want to get up in the mornings. The hotel has a new feeling to it. The front desk was very helpful and attentive, especially Mathew who greeted us with a warm smile and personally attended to all of our needs. He really went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Something that I will always remember. We arrived early in the morning and he gladly let us leave our bags there until check in and upon checking out, they kept our bags until later that afternoon when we were ready to leave NYC. which really helped us a lot. I'm a sports fan and I have to admit the flat screen T v in our room really made the players come to life. The television was the sharpest I've seen. The breakfast was good and plentiful.... we had no problems with seating. Cant say enough about this hotel. Just an outstanding experience. Plan to return to NYC very soon and will not stay anywhere else but here. Highly recommend. Again thanks Mathew.
