“Oh What A Hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2010

Surprised my wife with an anniversary trip to NYC for our 20th. From start to finish our stay was beyond terific. Hotel staff rolled out the red carpet for us and treated us like we were family. From the front desk to the cleaning staff this place is one of a kind. If you want to do it right and this is your first trip to NYC - this is where you have to stay! I'll never go anywhere else - they've spoiled me!

I have never written a review in my 20-plus years of travel as I never thought my words meant much to others. I simply had to share this experience because it was just that good!

Do it right guys - bring your wife to this place and you'll have earned a years worth of "kitchen passes"!

Thanks to everyone at The London for making our 20th one to remember!

We celebrated our anniversary with a three night stay in a lovely, spacious and well-appointed suite at The London NYC. We knew from the moment we walked in the door that we had made a great choice. The entire staff was so kind, helpful and professional, and the accommodations couldn't have been better. Though we travel to NYC often for theater, this was our first stay at this hotel. It's perfectly located for most of the Broadway theaters and pre-theater restaurants, so I'm sure it will not be our last. And I'll definitely be recommending it to friends and family, for whom I seem to be the go-to person for all sorts of information about New York.

Stayed at the London between 26th and 30th August as part of a quick getaway break to NYC.

We had a nightmare 9 hour delay on the flight out, but confirmed our reservation from the Virgin clubhouse at heathrow and despite not getting to the hotel till 02:30am, the high floor suite requested (31st floor) was ready and a most welcome sight after a very long day travelling.

The plus points from our point of view:

01) Location ....location..... location - 5 minute stroll from Central Park / 5 minute stroll to 5th Avenue shops / 10 minute stroll to Times Sq

02) Excellent access to Subway lines - all within a 2 -5 minute walk
7th Ave & 49th or 57th St for the N-Q-R
6th Ave & 57th St for the B-D-F-M
7th Ave 50th St for the 1-2-3 line

03) Suites are roomy with comfortable sitting area (great views from room 3107)

04) Bed is huge and amazingly comfortable, in separate area with closing doors

05) Housekeeping is to a very high standard - including bed turndown at night

06) Bathroom had good shower and separate bath

07) Free Wi-Fi

08) Flat screen TV in both sitting area & bedroom

09) Aircon was very quiet - much needed as temps were in the +30's (C) during our stay

10) Some nice bars close by and also easy to hail a cab if needed

11) Front desk staff very friendly and took time to help with everything from pointing out directions, to changing travellors cheques (no fee)

The negative points from our point of view;

01) would have been nice to have a coffee machine in the room

that's it...... Think I can live without coffee making facilities so all in all - Great place, would stay here again without question!

I have just returned from Honeymoon to New York and Barbados and spent 4 blissful nights in the London NYC. I know that everyone will have said all of this before, but I wanted to reiterate a couple of things:
Location - excellent central location for mooching around New York City. Located within walking distance of Central Park, around the corner from the Rockerfeller and Times Square, this hotel is in a vibrant area in NYC but being on a side road was peaceful and gave you a seamless nights sleep.
The rooms - Lovely modern decor and absolutely loved the fact that we had such a large space in a city renowned for small appartments. Loved the walk in wardrobe area, the large shower, living area and the bed! The bed was massive and really comfortable, excellent for getting over a bit of jet lag! The shower was powerful and the products lovely and I absolutely fell in love with the dressing gown (so should have brought one to bring home!)
Staff - We had an incredibly warm welcome on arrival from Front Desk Manager, Michael High, who sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne to our room to help us celebrate the first day of our Honeymoon. From there on in, each and every person we came into contact with from the hotel was polite, friendly and so accommodating. We had excellent recommendations from Mike outside as to where to go for Pizza in NYC and such a warm and genuine welcome from absolutely everyone, that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a blissful break in NYC.

I can't fault anything about this hotel, was a perfect stay so a massive thanks to all involved.

We stayed at this hotel on my first visit to New York. This is a tastefully furnished hotel with the rooms starting at a 1 bedroom suite with a separate living and bedroom area. The bathroom was also stunning. The beds are so comfortable that we did not want to move from it. The breakfasts are also some of the most beautifully presented breakfast dishes we have seen in a hotel, though we were slightly disappointed by the flavours.

Unfortunately the concierge misled us about the travel time required to the airport with the consequence that we missed our flight home for Xmas. We ended up driving 8 hours to make it back in time for Xmas eve!

As we were only in NYC for a short stay we didn't really check out the other services or restaurants.

I had a very positive stay at the London West Hollywood and chose The London NYC on a recent NYC trip due to the rate. It was an incredible value (booked through Amex Platinum Travel) vs. all of the other $500-600/night luxury hotels in the city on a late summer weekend. I frankly didn't know that you could even book a hotel like this for half of those rates! To keep it brief...

Pros: Value. Excellent location a short walk from all kinds of restaurants, attractions, and Central Park. Spacious rooms (separate living and sitting areas). Nice bathroom tile and big shower. Having recently been nickeled-and-dimed recently for wireless internet at some very expensive hotels, it was refreshing to have it here for free without some sort of catch.

Cons: Service was reasonably efficient but not always the most friendly and a bit careless at times. Definitely not Four Seasons-quality, but nothing to complain about. The biggest service lapse was in the restaurant around breakfast time. Room could've used a little touch-up here and there (paint, caulking in shower, etc.).

I'd definitely consider returning again, though they'll have to step up the service a bit to command higher rates and compete with all of the newcomers on the NYC hotel scene.

I stay at the London-NYC once a year for business and always look forward to returning each year. The staff are top notch; notably Elvi G., who went above and beyond to provide excellent service. He was attentive and responsive to all questions and requests. The location is in the heart of Manhattan and the rooms are spacious; larger than most hotel rooms in New York. The beds are super comfortable and the bathroom has a dual shower =) If you are looking for a chic, modern hotel, in a prime location with phenomenal service, I highly recommend the London-NYC.
