We stayed in a Vista Suite recently for a girls trip to Manhattan! The room was spacious even with the roll-a-way in the separate living room/sitting area. The view was spectacular of Central Park and the Hudson River from the 39th floor with no street noise. The bathroom vanity was huge... enough for three females to spread out their toiletrees! The added details of the room were great; two tvs, a separate dressing area/ clothes storage, electronic drape closing, French doors between the bedroom and living room, and a comfortable bed. Besides the room, the location of the Hotel was great. We walked to the Metropolitan Art Museum and found great restaurants with the help of the concierge. The staff was very courteous, quickly getting extra towels and setting up the roll-away bed. We can't wait to return!!

Room Tip: Higher floors for view and no noise

I had a suite reserved, but there was only one available on the smoking floor, or a small room available on the non-smoking floor, which was a disappointing. Went for the suite, which if it didn't stink of stale smoke, would've been quite nice. Bedroom, separate 'lounge' with sofa, table, desk and rocking chair. The gym is good and open 24 hours. Location is good for midtown and Central Park.

We were on the the upper floors where rooms are bigger and the noise from the street not a problem. Room was spacious and most comfortable. The location was perfect and a staff that is ready to assist. Breakfast at the attached Gordon Ramsey restaurant is pricey but offers a decent and convenient buffet. Plenty of places nearby if you wish to leave the hotel to eat.

Room Tip: Choose ABOVE the 26th floor. Rooms are larger and quieter.

This hotel is simply perfect. You would be hard pressed to find larger basic rooms anywhere else in the area. Front Desk was very helpful and accommodating. Room was extremely clean. Definitely my hotel of choice when visiting the city from this point forward. A must stay!!!

My "suite" was about the same size as a Hampton Inn standard room, just with an extra door or two and a little more broken up. If I had come to NYC to socialize and have a few friends over for wine and cheese the "living room" would have been perfect with its L-shaped sofa and modest-sized flat screen TV. But for business travel it would be a lot better to have a desk to facilitate laptop use.

Electronics plus: Free WiFi that is actually usably fast for business. I measured 5 mbps up and down.

Electronics minus: TV in bedroom is about 32" diagonally with acres of blank wall all around.

Maybe they need to get more in touch with customers before they arrive and arrange them into "hip and fabulous" or "boring for laptop users" rooms.

When arriving, we were shown to a dirty, unkept room. Immediately we were whisked to a room higher up and much larger. The service was extremely apologetic and sent wine and chocolates as a gift. The rest of our stay was pleasant. Comfortable beds, great dual head showers and plenty of room. This is now our "go to" hotel in the city, since the Essex House left Amex Fine Hotel and Resorts program. It is very convenient for uptown, mid town or downtown.
