This was the second time we stayed at Harlem Hideaway and now this is certainly our place when in NY. Dennis is an excellent and extremely helpful host, we felt taken care of in every possible respect. The neighborhood is fantastic to explore, especially the new, fast growing food area.

Everything you see and read in the description is what you get! Harlem Hideaway Garden apartment is a wonderful place to stay while you're in New York. Dennis, the owner, is a great host and will answer all your questions, tells you what to do in the area, how to get there,... You feel right at home 30 seconds after your arrival! The subway is a walking distance (4 min) and will take you to Times Square in about 15 minutes! It was our first time in New York and we are very happy to have chosen the Garden Apartment out of a dozen places to stay! We hope to return in the future.

We stayed in one of Dennis`s 119th Street Harlem apartments for 4 days in mid October. We found Dennis to be a very experienced hospitable host with a professionally run three (I think) brownstone apartments in a quiet street just off the main (Malcolm X) boulevard,
The apartment was large, sensibly refurbished and had all the utensils / furniture etc we needed. Dennis the owner knows the area and was a good source of advice. The New York subway system works - but needs to be thought through somewhat first if you haven`t used US subways previously.
We were initially a bit "wary" of staying in Harlem but we absolutely didn`t need to be and it was certainly much quieter and quite possibly safer than the near-Times- Square (39th Street) hotel we had stayed in several weeks before.

Harlem Hideaway is an oasis of cool, in this electrifying city, New York. We've been to NYC many times but this is our first time staying in Harlem. Staying at the Hideaway was delightful and convenient for Central Park and Museum Row. And because the 2 & 3 line run all the way to the Financial District, it was also convenient for our trip to see the 9/11 Memorial. We plan to return (and recommend the Hideaway to our friends as well.)
