“Flavorful, Fast, Fun”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Describing its offerings as foods of western China, Xi'an offered 1.5-2.0" wide noodles longer than I've seen before, served piping hot with a nicely spiced shredded pork. Great, inexpensive meal in a same, fast-paced, fun space

“Delicious, spicy, & addictive!”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Dined here with spouse yesterday (Sunday) for a late lunch at 2pm. Restaurant was busy for a Sunday. Most customers were Asian (a good sign). Menu is on the wall and each dish is pictured and assigned a number (N1, S1,etc). Prices are about $8/pp tax included (no beverage).

Focus is on handmade noodle dishes and soups. I had N2 (Spicy Tingly Beef Noodles) and husband had N1 (Spicy Cumin Lamb. N2 had lots of wide noodles and chunks of beef and a spicy sauce that made my tongue tingle and my eyeballs perspire. N1 had smaller pieces of lamb and wide noodles, plus a nice cumin-flavor. If you're not familiar with what cumin tastes like, think of most taco meat flavor. That's cumin. Pieces of cabbage, celery and green onions in both dishes.

Small seating area in the rear of restaurant with benches along a couple of bars. Not intimate Nd little personal space, but gives it the feeling of a noodle bar in China.

They warn you if you try to do take-away the flavors will muddle and it won't taste the same (or good). They also tell you if they can't accommodate you sitting in the restaurant they'll automatically pack your order to go. During lunch rush I imagine huge crowds. If you can go after 2pm you'll have better luck at eating it there. Or, if it's a nice day do take-away and find a nearby spot to eat.

I look forward to returning on my next visit to NYC!
