“Love the location, not so hot on the heating system”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Amazing location. Room was sizable, comfortable & clean. Stayed on the 2nd floor. Could hear the traffic but you'll automatically block it out once you get used to the noise. The layout of my room was ok but my friends had a weird room. you cant close the toilet door if you are sitting on the potty & the storage space is non-existance. My friends & I stayed in Duane St during winter. They really need to do something abt the heating in the hotel. The girls at the front desk were in their winter coats! we were waiting to dine in Methaphore & were freezing as we waited for our table. They have a blower system in the rooms & man they were noisy. I made the mistake of leaving my heating on auto. Each time it came on & went off in the middle of the night I woke up. Sure didn't help my jet lag :-( . Bed was very comfy. Love the little notes they place on the pillow after turn down service. And love love love love that they actively promote recycling & use only natural products

Most hotel rooms in New York are small, even tiny, and many are noisy because New York is a noisy place. By New York standards our room at this hotel was neither noisy or small. It was lovely, well-decorated, clean and relaxing. The staff was very courteous and helpful without being intrusive. The location could not be better. We walked to great restaurants, the 9/11 Memorial and Wall St and took subways everywhere else. - very close to two subway stops providing easy access to all of New York. We wanted to stay in a really nice hotel and booked this one sight unseen. We were thrilled.

Room Tip: Some comments indicated rooms might be noisy or small. We had a corner room on the third floor - an...

My good friends from Paris decided to spend a long weekend in NYC to visit the Soho, Tribeca and Chelsea area and I recommended the Duane Street hotel. They came in from Paris, another friend from Philadelphia and my husband and I came up from Princeton. We loved the cozy caring boutique hotel right on the corner. The staff was friendly and professional and the rooms had the best beds ever! total comfort and just what you needed in the room.. not more, not less, just my style. We are all travelers.. so we know good accommodations when we get it.. and WE GOT IT. It was a great stay in the cool part of town. We all recommend the place!

Staying at the small boutique Duane Street Hotel was the perfect spot for accessing
friends and events scattered from midtown to Brooklyn. The staff is very knowledgeable
and very interested in ensuring your stay is smooth. It is an easy walk to the Hudson,
boutiques, restaurants and subways. I might have given it an overall perfect rating but found the
Room (509) to be a little small and the wifi (coming in and out) a bit annoying.

Room Tip: Chose a room above 3 and not near the elevator to avoid noise.

We have stayed at the Duane St. Hotel 3 years in a row when in NYC for an annual family event. The facility is well-maintained, quiet and very clean. The staff is outstandingly friendly and ready to help in any way. Great Tribeca location, a short walk to a range of restaurants and to subway and buses. A nice perk we just explored--complimentary passes to a very well-equipped Equinox gym around the corner. Our rooms have been small but comfortable, well-equipped and impeccably clean. We are very pleased and will return.

i stayed at the duane street hotel for three nigts during a business trip. i had room 505 and was pleasantly surprised by the size of it as it was quite big for new york. it had the most comfortable bed and a very good bathroom. the shower was a treat after a long business day. the decor was tasteful and everything in the room was excellentely clean. i always use earplugs when i stay at hotels, so i cannot say if the hotel is noisy or not. it's true that you can feel the shaking of the subway that passes underneath the hotel but this is minor and you only recognize it if you want to while diving into this amazing bed.
i had to cancel one night and the staff was very attentive. they did not charge me the cancelled night but i had to pay a minor extra amount for the other nights which was the discount i would have got for 4 nights.
the only thing i dont recommend is the breakfast. its really expensive and not worth the price. there are many other places around where you can get good and cheap breakfast.

overall i was very pleased with my experience at the duane street hotel.

We stayed for five nights and choose the Tribeca area not wanting to be in Times square. The hotel was very welcoming and it felt like home. The room was modern and clean and the hotel was in easy reach of the Chamber St subway which we used quite often.we did the tourist bus trip over two days but then walked on a few days. From the hotel you can easily walk in to Soho/Grenwich area or down to Wall St and The freedom towers. Lots of places to eat locally and we asked about a jazz club which we visited called B minor which has live jazz Mondays and Wednesday evenings which do fantastic cocktails too.

Room Tip: We were on the fifth floor but quite near the lift so a bit noisy on the saturday night room 504. Th...
