This tiny place is full of laid-back cool energy. The vibes from the music and the people are hip, and the time you'll spend there will be memorable.

it doesn't get more intimate than this greenwich village jazz club. walk through the front door and down the stairs and a tiny club with a big sound awaits. all manner of people are there- business types, village peeps, jazz stoners, euros- it's a great mix of people drawn together by some powerful jazz artists. I like jazz, but even if I didn't I would go here, just to experience the scene, or lack thereof. Big ups to Smalls !!

Great little (Small) club in Greenwich Village!!! We listened to MARK WHITFIELD JAZZ GUITARIST who played with his two sons. Mark Jr 23 years old on drums and his son Davis twenty years old on piano, along with a great string bass....Brilliant group...left with smiles on our faces. Would go back to Smalls Again...great venue for JAZZ!!!

This small West Village club is understated when you walk down the stairs. The music then speaks for itself. To be that close with such quality players, with none of the Vanguard pretention is pretty damn great.

Smalls is the best. It's a shrine to jazz and compelling evidence against the notion that jazz is dead. Every night of the week great music happens here. It's not fancy and there's no food but if you're looking for great players, young and old, in an intimate setting you can't go wrong with Smalls. The cover charge varies, but is consistently far below what clubs like the Blue Note and the Village Vanguard charge.
