This is the historic and since the late 19th century mainly Jewish garment district where at one point clothing was the largest industry in New York. The area has declined over the years and although there are some shops and fashion houses it more noted for its historical importance.

Stayed at The New Yorker hotel, which is located in the Garment. The area is home to the majority of New York’s showrooms and to numerous major fashion labels, and caters to all aspects of the fashion process–from design and production to wholesale selling. No other city has a comparable concentration of fashion businesses and talent in a single district

furthermore, it is close to some of the city's most iconic buildings, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the United Nations Headquarters. It contains world-famous commercial zones such as Rockefeller Center, Broadway, and Times Square; all of which my family and I visited (with the exception of the UN).

Wow.. This is where the magic happens. Of course you gotta visit Mood, but there are several other neat shops that sell sewing and crafting supplies. Depending on where you're from, it's quite likely you will be in awe at all the fabrics, trims, and garment making product shops. Just amazing.

We came from a trip in NYC and we found a great beads store with an outstanding selection and great prices on Czech beads, Swarovski crystal, and wire supplies. It’s on the side street on 37th between 5th -6th Ave, City Beads , very nice people and great help. My girlfriend was asking many questions and got an education from the sales lady which was great.
Thanks
