Two friends and I shared a room here 10/18-10/20 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. We were expecting better quality and cleanliness - but walked in to see a grimy, dingy, tiny room. The beds were worn and had visible depressions in the centers. It was so bad that my friend and I kept rolling into each other as we slept. This was a deal-breaker given we had walked 26.2 miles the first day and needed a good restful sleep for the second day's 13.1 mile walk.
The bathroom was tiny - barely large enough to dry off - and there was no counter space to speak of. The room was $449 per night which is standard for a very nice NYC hotel. This room felt like I stepped back in time and was in a crappy run down small NYC apt. The only thing this hotel has going for it is location, but it's NYC and there are plenty of other places to stay. Marriott Marquis was immaculate and close by - try that instead.
Staff was snotty and not at all interested in our comfort. We were so tired from the walk we didn't have the energy to argue. The restaurant onsite is tiny, and it took an hour to get a couple of burgers and flatbread pizza. Called the 800# and got better service and a refund for one night.More
