Can't beat the location. Right be Rockefeller center, walkable to Times Square. Museums, shops restaurants, it's all here. The hotel is a large one that is always busy. Like being around people? This place is hard to bear.

Location is great and the personnel did a good job.

However, our room had peeling paint above the windows and the shower had serious rust at the bottom of the glass shower enclosure.

Also, because of renovations, we had to eat breakfast in the bar area, and waited quite awhile in line for a very over-priced buffet. A la carte was not offered. After that experience, we chose to eat breakfast outside the hotel.

Gelmac,

Thank you for sharing this honest input on your recent stay with us in New York. We are sorry to hear that the relocation of our breakfast service due to renovations was inconvenient and we will utilize your feedback on the state of your guestroom as we constantly evolve to best meet your needs. We look forward to having another opportunity to show you the quality accommodations you deserve should you return to the city in the future.

Thank you,

Very central to all attractions, great staff very helpful and friendly. Will be staying here again.

Great tickets and tours desk - they get you the best possible discount price for any attraction, tour or show.

We stayed in the upper floors, not necessarily open to everyone for some reason. The location was absolutely perfect. The room was very comfortable and met all the basics at the top level. I will say though that you enter the sea of people when you walk into the lobby and regardless of the time of day or night - it was well "grand central station."

The fitness area was top notch (5th floor). They do charge $3.50 per bag to watch your bag for the afternoon (like after you check out but before you go to the airport). No coffee or tea maker in the room, and that was annoying.

Room Tip: The higher floors are part of their owners club, but are still sometimes available.

Stayed at the New York Hilton this weekend because I do "love New York" and they offered me a great deal. To be fair, I usually don't like big hotels and this was no exception. Although the staff I met were uniformly pleasant, the hotel itself is the typical big chain hotel. On arrival I had to thread my way through a hall littered with dirty laundry bags - not a person in sight...no vent in the bathroom, so you were wet until you dried off in your room...room service food was greasy (although the portion was large)...temperature control didn't work - despite a setting of 66 (to try to cool the room for sleeping) it never got below 70...even the pen was dry! Not an experience I'd wish to repeat.

We are sorry we were unable to provide you with the quality of amenities and service you expect from Hilton during your recent stay. We apologize for the issues you experienced in your room and with our dining options and we will work with our team to ensure we are meeting our brand standard quality in both arenas. I stayed here with a friend in March of 2013. We got a pretty good deal with two doubles and a suite with the executive lounge included. We also had three six year old with us so the executive lounge and the extra space of the suite were very handy. It was nice to just wake up and go downstairs and help ourselves to whatever for breakfast. We also were able to indulge during happy hour and during the day for refreshments. For us it was a good time saver and money saver with the kids in the city. The hotel is very nice and up to Hilton standards. Beds were comfortable and it was quiet. I would definitely stay again.

Giant hotel well located. For some reason air conditioning is always set at "refrigeration" in public areas. Insufficient places to sit and chat with other conference participants (primarily business hotel) or family members coming to greet you.
