“Great Location”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

The best thing about this hotel is is't location. You can walk almost anywhere in the core of all things one would want to see with limited time. The subway is nearby so that was very handy as well.
We did not eat at this hotel so I have no coment on that.
We go an internet deal on our room and perhaps that was why we were a little surprised to find the room was not any better than a budget place-adaquate but nothing to write home about.
The young man at check in was very helpfull but apart from him, we didn't think the staff too helpful. In fact, the woman at the information desk was probably the most impolite person we ran into on our 2 day visit.

Our room, newly renovated, was very good. The bathroom is small but this is New York City. All staff we dealt with were very accomodating. We got a reasonable rate by booking through the hotel using their special rate option.

Room Tip: Rooms on or above the 15th floor are best

My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much. We are Gold members and received an upgrade. We were celebrating my husband's birthday - and the staff surprised us by bringing a beautiful (and delicious!) birthday cake. That is a gesture that goes beyond the norm and one we are still in awe of today! Also, I set a wake-up call and completely forgot about it and went to breakfast - on our return security came and checked on us to make sure we were OK. Thanks!
Very friendly, great location!

We had a very good experience at the Hilton New York. We had a few concerns, so, our expectations were exceeded. Great location. We opted for the Executive floor for which we had a good ( early booking) deal, including breakfast. From room 4040 we had a glimpse of Central Park ( between two towers - New York at its best !). The room was spacious with two big comfy beds. The heating worked to perfection. Huge windows. Very Clean, decent bath room.
Executive rooms have separate breakfast lounge. Continental style, generous, croissants, pastries, rolls, juices, coffees, newspapers, etc. Busy, but never had to wait for a table.
Some complaints here mentioned the long waitings for the elevators - we never waited more then 2 minutes, at the most. Yes, reception was vey busy, like a small airport, but it took us 3 minutes to check-in. Service was courteous, we never heard a "no".
The hotel, at least on the 40th floor need a good make over. That 80´s look is impossible to ignore. Did not bother us that much. No coffee or free wifi is annoying. Suggest increase the rate by some $20 and pretend it is free. That charge is irritating and mean ( we did get it for free, after asking, as it was our 20th anniversay, but that is besides the point).
On a funny note: - we had a lovely card and a fruit plate from the manager wishing us (Mr and Mrs Pinto) a wonderful 20th celebration in New York - lack of attention to detail ( or the habit of making assumptions) lead the manager to overlook our reservation for Mr and Mr Pinto ( we are a married same sex couple!). Anyway - thanks a lot. We had a fantastic stay in this hotel and we will comeback !

Room Tip: Go for Executive. 40th or above. Room 4040 was excellent.

I've stayed here three times in the past 12 months, both for work and for fun. The hotel has a great location, close to the Broadway shows, but not right in midst of the crowds like the Hilton Times Square. It's also close to Central Park, so it's a great location to start a run or a walk into the park. It's also right next to the highly addictive The Halal Guys street meat carts! I really enjoy the bar too, its not super crowded like the W's Whisky Blue of course not as hip either.

I obviously like it, so why not 5 stars? Well, the issue is that everything is really nice but there's nothing spectacular about the hotel. You are right in middle of the city so there are no spectacular views of the East river like you can score at the Hilton Times Square or views of Central Park like at the Helmsley Park Lane. The Hhonors lounge is mobbed at happy hour, if you really want food, you're better off spending $6 for the gyro platter at The Halal Guys (seriously, it's that good!).

I and my wife and two children Ages 5 and 2 had a very good stay at this Hotel which was on the 6th avenue close to major points of interest to my family, namely. Times Square, Toy R'us, Central Park, Fifth Avenue etc. On the inside the Hotel staff were very polite, friendly and helpful where necessary

Room Tip: The topmost floors give a breathtaking view of the landscape of manhattan

We arrived the weekend of the recent blizzard. We were 5 friends staying in 3 rooms. I'd read some good and not so good reviews especially regarding the lobby area and wifi so emailed the hotel with my concerns. We requested the rooms be together and on a higher floor and not only did they oblige to this request, they also upgraded us to executive rooms. The rooms were clean and very spacious with amazingly comfortable beds! (This was 3 times the size of the room I had in Soho 2 years ago).
The location was perfect, surrounded by Starbucks, diners and street vendors. We never intended to eat breakfast or have coffee in the hotel in the mornings and just headed out to starbucks or a local diner. We were a short walk to Central Park, MOMA was just down the road and a slightly longer walk would take us to the Times Square area. The staff we dealt with (concierge and transport/theatre desk) were very helpful. The only complaint would be the maids being a little too loud on the Sunday morning. Turn left out of hotel and walk to Astro Diner and you won't be disappointed for breakfast. We would all stay here again.

Room Tip: Email the hotel in advance with a room request
