“Yummy Brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

Went here with a group. Great atmosphere and decent food. Service was a little odd at times, but I would definitely go back!

“Apparently it's got a name, but the reality is average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Had the mezzi multiple plate appetizers and have to say that their bread is wonderful. It just keeps coming if you ask. Our friends eat there regularly, but normally early or late. We came on Thursday at 7:30 pm and it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think.
We ended up leaving to eat elsewhere.
Complaints- the wait staff is enthusiastic but not well trained. The waiter kicked my chair regularly and leaned into me as well. a "sense of personal space" was lacking Too eager to take plates , that sort of thing.
note : the restrooms are pretty, clean, and unisex. I'm not sure why.

“Cool mediterranean food with noisy crowd”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

Good choices in this mediterranean restaurant close to Union Square. There is always a trendy crowd lively involved in chatting. To start with they bring you a straight-from-the-oven focaccia, accompanied with olives, which is to die for. the menu includes a godo selection of mediterranean dished.

“Barbounia raises the bar for Mediterranean cuisine in Manhattan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

Most Mediterranean cuisine in NYC is dominated by Greek restaurants. Barbounia adds an Israeli twist that just blows away the competition. Spicy feta cheese really caught me off guard and I enjoyed it with friends immensely. Houmous, a staple of Israeli's, was uncommonly good. Main course Halibut with Couscous and spicy Moroccan sauce was another deliciously unexpected surprise. The desserts that ended the meal did not fall from the level previous courses had set. A halva topped ice cream, chocolate to die for. All in all an amazing meal that I would highly recommend to Mediterranean lovers. Hats off to Efi the chef.

“Much more tan just a Mediterranean cuisine ...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013 via mobile

Following a friends recommendation, we and our friends had dinner at Barbounia. The menu had typical mediterranean dishes like hummus etc. But, it was so much more.. We had different appetizers and different main courses ( meat and fish) , all of them were delicious, sophisticated ,tasty, prepared with freshest ingredients. Desserts were as good as the rest. The restaurant was packed on Wednesday night so we were smart to book in advance. Service was of a high standard. Very recommended!!! We would go back for sure.
