Description: The surreal atmosphere of this awe-inspiring restaurant in the Meatpacking district of Manhattan combines the serenity of Asia with the flamboyance of 16th century Paris. The menu features fanciful interpretations of Chinese dishes and delights even the most discriminating palates.

We have been to Buddakan during our NYC trip. The place is very chic, quite dark, which gives a cosy ambiance. The asian food is really good, and they have a nice choice of wines: we ordered a Meursault, that wasn't so expensive for this kind of restaurant.
It is quite expensive, but justified by the quality of the food, the service, the situation and the place itself. The staff was really great.
I recommand that you make a reservation, at least 48h prior to your lunch/dinner if it is during a week end.

We recently visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from friends and the positive reviews on tripadvisor. The food is of high quality but it certainly doesn't justify all the hype it is receiving - perhaps I am somewhat biased living in Hong Kong.

Nonetheless, I would recommend checking this place out if you haven't experienced the real thing in China or Hong Kong. Service is great and efficient.

I visited Buddakan with a large group to celebrate a milestone birthday. Everyone was blown away! The staff was instrumental in helping us order. The food was impressive -unique combinations that were absolutely delicious. I would jump at the opportunity to visit this spot again!

My third time here since since it opened in the Meatpacking District eight years ago, and it’s still a WOW experience - big, bad and bold. If you can’t afford to eat here, pop into the bar called The Lounge on your way to the Chelsea Market because the space is magnificent and the architecture is awesome. There are communal tables in the Grand Hall and separate tables along the perimeter in The Blue Areas as well as distinct rooms downstairs – the Red Vase Room, the Golden Library, etc. all decorated by Christian Liaigre & all filed under Must See. The food is also amazing - sophisticated in flavor, textures, and presentation. The scallops, the tuna spring rolls and the calamari salad are standouts. And very Zen-named specialty cocktails like Benevolence, Longevity, and Clarity.

Our experience at Buddakan was amazing!!! Everything we ordered was awesome! General Tso's Dumplings were our favorite and we actually had to add two more orders we loved them so much. The main courses were all great, from the Charred Filet of Beef, Black Pepper Beef, Kung Pao Monkfish to the Sweet and Crispy Shrimp. The atmosphere was excellent! The service we received from Katie was top notch! We will be back for sure on our next trip to NYC.
