Description: The word is out: Marlon Abela, the restaurateur behind London's Michelin one-star with two-stars rising Greenhouse, has opened a new modern Italian restaurant A Voce ("word of mouth") on the edge of chic Madison Square Park. The emphasis is on grown-up, deeply delicious Italian cookery set against a back drop of Italian style and organic East Coast elements.

“Poor”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

It was a Saturday night, we were returning customers. Front staff were unfriendly and officious. Wait staff were over worked and service was very slow, food was tasteless and small and hellish expensive. If you can't handle the business then shut the kitchen down.

“Creative and Delightfully Tasty Italian Meal”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

A Voce serves creative and delightfully tasty Italian meal prepared in varieties you won't find elsewhere.

Enjoyed the special of scallops with calamari and pearl couscous (see pic). Colleagues chose the sea bass, also delicious.

Marvelous grilled Italian bread with olive oil

In a city of expensive restaurants, A Voce is very expensive and earns its prices.

Tip: don't miss the creative deserts, and I'm not a desert person.

Tip II: Diners seemed to enjoy their seafood more than their meat.

Very disappointing. The himachi appitizer for $17 was 3 o 4 slivers of sushi with slivers lo avocado and no taste. The pork loin app was very good but a bit fatty. My hanger steak was supposed to be med rare to rare came well done and very chewy. Nothing else no vege or potato. I sent it back thinking they were making a new one and after a wait some woman comes over to tell me that is there med rare WHAT is she talking about it was well done. By that point everyone was done so I just shared my husband's chicken. That was ok but certainly nothing great. My sons veal ragu pasta was weak at best. I have had it at many restaurants and this was the worst so far Nice looking place but expensive and not worth it. Bread was good but that was about it

“Don't bother”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

When the waiter tells you he has a nice table for you under the umbrella you know it's not going to be the best! It was at the edge of the restaurant next to the sidewalk and we felt out of the general buzz of the place. The waiting staff were not especially friendly and the service was slow. The food was boring, not especially hot and certainly not up to the standard of another Italian we went to during our week in NYC. We would definitely not go back as there are so many better restaurants in Manhattan.

“Bellissimo!”
Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

A fun place to dine on a warm summer evening. We loved the mozzarella antipasto and the trumpet mushrooms in the ravioli tasted as if they had just been plucked from a forest floor.
I found the secondi pasta to be large enough for a main dish. Our fun-and-food loving waiter Walter, kept us informed and amused all evening and was kind enough to combine two desserts for me when I couldn't decide between the bignet donuts and the OMG raspberry chocolate ganache.
