Description: The word is out: Marlon Abela, the restaurateur behind London's Michelin one-star with two-stars rising Greenhouse, has opened a new modern Italian restaurant A Voce ("word of mouth") on the edge of chic Madison Square Park. The emphasis is on grown-up, deeply delicious Italian cookery set against a back drop of Italian style and organic East Coast elements.

A Voce was running a Restaurant Week lunch deal, so I went mid-week with a friend who was visiting from the UK.

Although the majority of diners appeared to be on business, the atmosphere was relaxed and the service particularly attentive. The 3 course set menu had a variety of interesting options and when the food arrived we were not disappointed -- each of the dishes had an interesting addition and the portions were sufficient to feel full afterwards.

I would struggle to justify paying full price at this kind of restaurant, but for the deal we got -- $25 a head -- I can't think of anywhere else in the city better for a delicious and memorable meal.

We found this by chance. The food is pricey but what we had was definitely worth it. Interesting flavors so not for someone who likes simple food. Service good. Tables too close together so dont expect a private conversation.

I am a big fan of this restaurant, and its other location on Columbus Circle. The food mixes classically Italian flavors and styles in a refreshing way. I loved the sea urchin linguine with lemon, and their bistecca was perfectly done. The ricotta cheese on crostini and cassoncini with Parma ham were just superb. Definitely worth a try if you are open to being adventurous with your ordering.

We have been going to a Voce Madison for some time but our dinner last Saturday was absolutely superb. We shared the casconcinni which is always very good. Hard to eat it alone as the portion is large. For the mains we had tortellini and raviolini. Both superb. Desserts were chocolate tart and chocolate I've cream, grapefruit sorbet and espresso granite. Every dish was top notch as was the service. We enjoyed a Sardinian wine to complement the dinner. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The location and view from the restaurant is great but the food is just average. I expected a lot more since it was recomended to us by our hotel concierge. We had the Bronzano fish and it was was just ok. I have had much better at many other italian restaurants. The salad was not very good since the lemon dressing was overpowering. There are many other better Italian restaurants in NYC.
