“just a lovely, comfortable restaurant”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

It's been years since my last visit to Cafe d'Alsace and it did not disappoint. The room is still comfortably worn and totally off the tourist radar. This is NOT Balthazar (thank God!). The service is attentive without annoying. The food is just sublime. There are many French dishes you find on bistro menus all over town and all done very well. Where they shine is the Alsacian choices. The Baeckeofe is just amazing. It will be a challenge to not order this every time I visit. The broth alone in this dish is worth crawling through glass for. The wine list is capable and affordable and the beer list is fantastic! I won't wait too long to come back.

“Merci Beaucoup!”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

Visited the neighborhood restaurant and what a prize it turned out to be! Our server and the wine specialist were very helpful. We had excellent white wine that had a name that sounded Czech. All of our entrees were delicious. I had moules and frites. The frites were like the kind in Europe where they're fried twice. Others had the bone marrow app and lamp chop. Another person had steak frites and said it was almost as good as Cafe de Paris in Geneva (a high honor!) Our desserts were tasty and huge. The ambiance was excellent in an understated way. The bar was very pretty, especially with all the colored bottles as seen in the picture. The menu is so vast that we feel we must return!

“Great prix fixe menu!!”
Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

They have a prix fixe three course meal with multiple options for each course but plenty of other small and large plates so you can have a lot of fun creating your own dining experience.

“Delicious french fare at a reasonable price”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

Family dinner gathering on a Saturday night pre-theater. Enjoyed various meals amongst our group including escargot, duck breast, mussels, roast chicken, ravioli and fish (trout). All quite tasty and piping hot upon arrival at table. Ordered an Alsatian white wine and beer which was quite good while still reasonably priced. Our waitress was very attentive and the manager checked on us twice. For NYC we felt that the prices were reasonable, food quite good and the ambiance was reminscient of our visit to the Alsatian regions of France and Germany several moons ago. I would recommend this restaurant if you happen to be in the area but might not venture here specifically from a farther away location in the city.

Reviewed August 24, 2012

Cafe d"Alsace!!?.. I'm Alsatian and the only thing Alsatian on the menu was Choucroute Garnie, Duck Choucroute and the Baeckeoffe which I had it was good but not as good as my sister in law's!!LOL......They also had Alsatien Muenster chesse!! very hard to find in the US...Had a sliver with a glass of an excellent Pinot Gris...Extremely busy and noisy place... I would recomend the place!!
