Description: Kellari Taverna is located in the heart of New York City, three blocks from Grand Central Station, Times Square and the Theater District. The dining room decor evokes a subterranean wine cellar designed with contemporary elegance. Kellari features the traditional Greek taverna specialties, such as grilled whole fish, prime chops and meats, and an eclectic selection of contemporary Hellenic savory appetizers ("mezedes") created by our Corporate Executive Chef, Gregory Zapantis. Our menu also features a variety of Greek cheeses, baked or flamed 'Saganaki' style, as well as a selection of Raw and Marinated seafood. The Kellari dessert menu includes innovative specialties such mastiha pudding and warm sokolata with halva ice cream as as well as traditional favorites such as Baklava and Galaktoboureko. Kellari Taverna offers an extensive international wine list featuring the largest selection of Greek wines available in any U.S. restaurant. About 24 wines are available by-the-glass.

“I Expected more...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

Kellari's menu is very promising. It is noted they use Mediterranean authentic ingredients. On a Saturday afternoon it seemed to me like the right place to have late light lunch. I entered and sat at the bar where I could look outside at the sunny day.

It started good with fresh bread served with great olives. fresh radish and tasty spread of of feta cheese and dried tomatos - lovely start !

The fresh Kellari salad I ordeded ended up being just lettuce. It was good, but as the flegsjip salad of a greek restaurant I expected more...

I ordered regular burger... it was overcooked and dry. The fries were less than warm and soaked with oil. The good point about this course had been the vegies. Great pieces of tomatos indicating this restaurant can fly.

I loved the atmosphere on a sunny Saturday noon.

Not bad, but I expected more...

“A Snooty Waiter but a nice place...”

The menu is terrific...so much choice. And the food was delicious. Our waiter was a tad snooty, but that was the only negative.

“Ordinary”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

I recently ate in this reastaurant on a visit to New York and found it to be very ordinary. The wait staff were overbearing and the the quality of food was poor. Dishes were either overcooked or undercooked and lacking in flavour

“Nice restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

The restaurant is very nice and it has a large display of fresh fish. Make sure to book in advance. The apetizers are very tasty as well as the bread. The service is excellent. As for the salmon that I ordered as a main dish it was a bit disappointing.

“Great Greek”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

I loved the food - grilled sardines like you find in Europe, all the dips (taramosalata, skordalia, tzatziki), avgolemona soup (which they have but it's not on the menu) & mezes!
