Description: Kellari Taverna is located in the heart of New York City, three blocks from Grand Central Station, Times Square and the Theater District. The dining room decor evokes a subterranean wine cellar designed with contemporary elegance. Kellari features the traditional Greek taverna specialties, such as grilled whole fish, prime chops and meats, and an eclectic selection of contemporary Hellenic savory appetizers ("mezedes") created by our Corporate Executive Chef, Gregory Zapantis. Our menu also features a variety of Greek cheeses, baked or flamed 'Saganaki' style, as well as a selection of Raw and Marinated seafood. The Kellari dessert menu includes innovative specialties such mastiha pudding and warm sokolata with halva ice cream as as well as traditional favorites such as Baklava and Galaktoboureko. Kellari Taverna offers an extensive international wine list featuring the largest selection of Greek wines available in any U.S. restaurant. About 24 wines are available by-the-glass.

“Reliable Luncheon Spot for Business”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

I have visited several times for business with parties of 20, and those of just two. The menu is terrific and food great. The staff is very professional and welcoming. My only criticism is that its is LOUD and difficult to hear your guests in the front of the house. This is a function of the acoustics, seating plan and the sheer pace of the place. If you are coming in for the Mediterranean food - the sound and whirlwind pace may not matter as much to you. Overall, If you need a quick, lovely place for lunch and you don't mind speaking loudly - its a winner.

“Amazing”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Waiter was wonderful, it was very busy but he did not forget us. recommended the meal. Stifado Braised octopus and calamari in a wine sauce and a Lavraki Grilled whole Mediterranean bass with steamed wild greens. steamed spinach. It was the best meal we have had in a long time. Prices were resonable for NYC and the meal. It was a lite meal and we could walk and enjoy the city with out feeling weighted down by heavy food. Would go over and over.

“Delicious Dining Experience”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

We arrived early and had more people show up to dine with us yet the hostess was more than accommodating. And it's pretty cool walking past the seafood on display in the middle of the restaurant - you can see it's super fresh. we were a bit taken aback that you order your fish by the pound, but it's great for sharing. Our appetizers were divine, the entrees good, but not overly filling and dessert was really yummy too. Overall, we had a great time. Obviously others agree because we dined on a Tuesday and the place filled up quickly. By the time we left just about every table was taken.

“Good food, service a bit slow”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Stopped in last night after 8:00 pm for a late dinner with friends. To start with we ordered the Saganaki (Flaming cheese) which was excellent.

For Dinner I had the Greek Salad, my friends had the Phylo Pies with Spinach and the Roasted Lamb.

Everything was great and I would come back. The only downside was the service was slow. From bringing the bread, the drinks and then dinner.....
