Been to NYC many times and tried all sort of hotels (unfortunately not the Plaza or Waldor types hotels), Hyatts, Marriotss, etc... this brand ndew hotels seemed to be a good choice and we were not disappointed at all. In fact we loved it a lot. The lobby is nothing extraordinary, a modern one. After a very quick checkin we got our room keys to the 56th floor with a view on Central Park. OMG!!! this is such a view and all those buildings and the river and even the bathroom had a floor to ceiling window... extraordinary. The room itself is not so big, but enough for two. The TV is easy to handle with a huge choice of all sorts of channels. The kitchen is OK, we hardly used it, though we liked the fridge, it's like a drawer, very convenient. The staff is nice and helpful. The location is great, we walked to the theatres, restaurants, to the MET, a lot of stuff within walking distance. The breakfast was the only "so-so" part of our stay, the choice would be OK (as in other Residence Inns), but the staff was unable to fill up the counters and trays and if you arrived 1 hour !!!!! before closing time there was almost nothing you could choose from. That was a real disappointment and it happened almost every day (we stayed 7 nights). BUT the room, the room decor, and the view still makes me to give a full 5. Would return tomorrow and wish I could stay for a month at least. (wish someone sponsor me) :-) I would reccomend this property to everybody.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a park view room (those rooms are more expensive, but you might be luck and got a com...

This new hotel has very comfortable clean rooms which one has come to expect in Manhattan from Marriott and other chain hotel brands. The Residence Inn's rooms start at floor #5 and go up to 65 floors. Obviously the views are priceless whether you can see Central Park, midtown and/or New Jersey and The Hudson River. An added bonus was the quick and personable check in on the ground floor and the better than expected "Great Room" where the complimentary, very large breakfast was served in the morning. The room has a a variety of seating and its 3rd floor overlooks Broadway. The choices and quality of breakfast items are impressive and I would recommend this hotel, unless one does not like heights.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views and so far up, the street noise is not a problem.

This is a relatively new hotel. The location is wonderful. The lobby is terrible but the staff is very nice. The rooms are new and clean but the hallways are dark. The elevators have this strange decor that looks dirty but it is just the tile on closer
inspection. The gym is nice but over run by kids when i was there. I was on a business trip and appreciate the free wifi and breakfast but this is more for families and vacationers then the business traveler. I might give it another try as I do like to build my Marriott points. The hotel might get better as it gets going.

Brand new hotel in midtown Manhattan. We had a concert to go to that night at Radio City Music Hall and the hotel is a few short blocks away. Friendly efficient service at the front desk. We were lucky enough to get a top floor with AMAZING views over Central Park (wow!!) and the Hudson River. The room, although regular "Manhattan-size", did not feel cramped at all. The layout was very efficient and the navy blue and white color scheme felt fresh and clean. The place was spotless. Great bed and sheets. Was amazed to discover (discreetly hidden away) a fridge and a dishwasher plus pots/pans/plates and sink for a longer stay. Would definitely stay again.

Check in was easy and we were able to get into our lovely and clean corner room on the 46th floor before noon! The room size was comfortable with a fantastic view of Central Park. The fridge and dishwasher were skillfully hidden in drawers in the kitchen area. No stove for obvious safety reasons in a high rise but microwave included. Bathroom had a great shower. We had no problem with elevator response time...we never waited more than 30 seconds. We were graciously given a late checkout for 1:30. Rate was reduced for the July 4th weekend. Great stay!

Last week we stayed in this more then beautiful hotel in Manhattan.
After a stay of 4 days at a room on the 65th floor with breathtaking views, we can only say: we want to go back.
The hotel itself is at an ideal spot, just between Time Square and Central Park, on a relatively quiet part of Broadway. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. We had a room in the residence, with kitchen. Very convenient if you want to escape the sounds of the city for one evening.
For breakfast there is a restaurant on the 3rd floor. Beautiful room, with energetic views on Broadway, waking up in the morning. The breakfast itself is simple, but good!

Even on the 65th you can open a window for fresh air if you like to switch off the climate control. This is one of the things that made the climate in the room perfect.
Staff is helpful and friendly. Respect for managing this new hotel so good in the short time it is open. Looking forward to come back! Thanks for the beautiful stay!

5 night family trip from the UK with wife and two kids aged 12 & 13. Having researched hotel options alot, I booked this hotel because it's the tallest in America thus great views, is new and modern, and has well designed rooms. I wanted to give my family a real NYC experience!

We booked two "double double" studios because there's no was no way that 4 of us could squeeze into one room. Mum and daughter in one room and me and my son in another. Only slight problem was that there's only one of these "double double" rooms on each floor (room xx09) and they don't go all the way to the top of the hotel apparently. Our rooms were on the 51st and 39th floor....which made my wife and daughter a little nervous because, in case of emergencies, we'd be far apart.

Unfortunately, there was an emergency on the 2nd night when smoke started filling our 51st floor room from the aircon just as we were drifting off to sleep. I turned off the aircon and the smoke stopped bellowing into the room. We called reception and they sent someone up within 2 mins and advised me to go down in the lift. By the time we'd got downstairs, a few floors of the hotel were being evacuated and 30+ firemen in 6+ fire engines had already arrived. Both exciting and scary at the same time!

We realise that these things happen in hotels from time to time and Trip Advisor is littered with examples of fire alarms going off. The key question is how a hotel responds! The good news is that the hotel responded professionally and safety was certainly their top priority.

In response to my direct request (would have been nice if they'd reacted proactively though), they moved us to another room next to the rest of my family on the 39th (a king to share with my son as they'd run out of the scarce "double doubles"), they laundered our clothes that smelled of smoke and gave us that troubled night for free. On our request, they did offer to move us to the RI Times Square but we decided to stay in this newer hotel.

In response to some other TA comments about this hotel:
- rooms are great. Really well designed. Every inch has been thought out.
- elevators weren't a problem for us; quick express lifts, never full and only stopped at one or two floors on the way up or down.
- beds very comfortable. Sheets are a bit noisy, only bothered my wife, not me.
- aircon is very effective though would be helpful if you could turn down the fan speed as very powerful for small rooms and quite noisy.
- breakfast wasn't great in our view. Not many healthy options and the cooked food looked and tasted unnatural and processed. Probably OK for a 5 min breakfast stop but not ideal for a family with kids, especially given the unusual seating arrangements. We went out to a neighbouring diner on most days.
- brilliant location. Easy access to everything.

Despite our "event" on the 2nd night, we would stay here again and would recommend it to others.
