A fairly easy side trip with decent payoff. We went early to avoid crowds. Once to the top go up two floors for an unobstructed view.

Unlike other sky scrapers in the area you get to stand on the roof of this building. A lift with a clear ceiling lets you look up the loft shaft as you make your way to the top. Great views through the glass walls at the top

Aside the cattle herding it was fun at the top but for me rather pricey!

It is after all just a ride in the elevator with a city view. I counted 18 people per elevator, per minute potentially ca $600/min!

Having said that we still enjoyed the view of the Empire State Building.

Definitely find time during your trip to visit this landmark as the views are amazing. Queues were to a minimum when we visited in the evening. Staff very helpful and friendly.

This is, in my opinion, the best skyscraper to go up in NYC. We visited the night of the 2018 mid-terms, so 30 Rock was lit up in red, white and blue and had a huge crowd outside for the TV crews. That said, the tower itself was very quiet. It's great to see the Empire State Building lit up too, as it puts on a different show each night. The price is pretty much the same as other sky scrapers though, so not much difference there. We went up at night and had such a clear view.

For plane spotters, a lot of traffic into Newark will fly right overhead if they are performing a go around. Planes landing into LGA can also be seen pretty closeby.

This is definitely the best view of NYC.
You’ll get a 360 surround view of the city including the historic Empire State Building which you won’t see nor have on your pics when you are on top of it. Hence, Top of the Rock simply is the smarter choice.

Beautiful view, probably even better than the empire state building but this is my opinion as lots of people do not like it that much. Just go there and enjoy the stunning view, little tip, go only if the weather is nice.

This is a great thing to do. On a nice clear day like we had, you really can see for miles. It's a shame about the monstrosity that blocks part of the view of Central Park but other than that you get some really great photos and an excellent view of the empire state building. I've put three of the many photos we took. Having gone in November the wind up there made you cold to the bone, however there is an inside part too if you don't want to do the outside. The photos you get are well worth a few minutes of freezing cold though, just make sure you take your hat, scarf and gloves and get in somewhere to warm up afterwards!!

Went to the top of the rockerfeller at sunset amazing 360 views of New York. Best view of the city we seen. Very busy up there as was expected but still special to see at that time of day.
