The view from the top of the rock is staggering. The only downside is that not enough thought has gone into the purchase of tickets and the queue for access which takes place in relatively narrow corridors.

It was our first visit to NYC, so we had to do both the Empire State and the Rockefeller Center. The both offer the same sort of experience, and yet they are both different. We opted to go up to the Top of the Rock at around sun set to see the lights. We had our guided tour first and then went up. We didn't have to queue very much - a few minutes and we were up on the 67th floor. The view was spectacular. Then we could go up two more levels and it was even better. We can see ESB and everything else. We were up there for over an hour watching the sun setting and the lights of Manhattan coming on. We were very lucky and we had a clear day. It was magical ! One of the highlights of our holiday.

The fee might seem high, but we combined it with a walking tour of the centre and two digital photos.

A word of caution - it's high up there, so remember to take something warm for when you are standing around.

What a great view, not as well know as the Empire State Building but I've been up both & thought this was a much better view of the City, thanks to my friend who lives there & told me about it.

Great excursion, the timing of tickets meant that it was not too crowded. Very friendly staff. Good value as well.

Best views in New York! We went up the Empire State Building, which is higher, but in my opinion the views (although also brilliant) were not as good as Top of the Rock!

Make sure you plan ahead and consult the weather as if there is rain visibility will be very poor.

An added bonus over the Empire State Building is that you are designated a time to go up so you can go off and do more stuff and return when it is your time slot. This saves massively on queueing time.

Although it is quite expensive at $29 each it is still worth it - and it is cheaper than the Empire State Building which is a massive $50 each. We purchased a New York Pass which meant we got in for free and had priority queueing also so I would really recommend buying this pass if you are going to visit a lot of attractions like we did.

All in all this was one of my favourite things I did in New York and can't recommend it highly enough. Pick a day with nice weather and go and have your minds blown by the amazing views!
